Ok since our anniversary cruise last August I have pretty much been lurking, however I am back to planning and need your help again. This time the whole family is going. DH, myself, DD (9), DD(8) and DS (6) next August.(ages as of next summer) My question is this:
We want to have access to the veranda at night but in reading here people say once the 5th bed is pulled down you can not get out of the doors. Is it physically impossible to the point where the doors will not open or is it a matter of climbing over the bed?. DH and I would like to spend time on the veranda at night after the kids are in bed. Thank you for any help,

Kelly

Hi Disneymommie, we are a family of five and have been on three cruises in the cat. 4 (our fourth is coming up soon!). It is not a physcial impossiblilty to get to the veranda with the bed down, just ackward as you do have to climb over it. What we ended up doing was putting our teenage daugther in that bed, she was out with the teens until late. We just pushed the bed back up and got to the veranda.

We usually had a bit of breakfast and coffee on there as well, that did mean climbing over the sleeping girl, but not a insurmountable. It is still very much worth it!

Have a great time!

we have been on 4 cruises in a cat 4 stateroom. we are also 5, me dh, dd 16, ds 14 and dd 12. the murphy bed makes getting to the verandah difficult but not impossible. our oldest stayed out late so after the housekeeper lowered the bed for the night we would prop it up with the chair and lower it again whe we went to bed. although i was tempted to raise it with dd in it so i could have coffee on the verandah i quickly learned how to negotiate the bed. besides dd wouldn't wake up if the ship were sinking.

the other solution is to sleep in the murphy bed and let dh take one of the bunks or sleep with a child. we have been married 18 years so slepng apart is occasionally ok. i am an early riser even on vacation and i really enjoyed watching the magic dock from the verandah.

access to the staemer trunk is vvery limited when the murphy bed is down i suggest taking out clothes the night before.

Thanks for the answer. I am glad to hear we can get to the veranda. If I have it I am using it!! Maybe we can let me DS fall asleep in the big bed and move him when we are ready togoto bed if we find it hard to get over it. Thanks again it makes me really want to go now, ugh to wait 13 months is going to kill me.

Dh and I have been married 4 years and sleeping apart ocasionally is Heaven - and mandatory if he is snoring the rafters down!!! lol :hyper:
