Cat 3 Request?

I just this week submitted a request for two Cat 3 suites for any 7 night cruise in October 2007. One was for specific suites (any of the midship ones with the murphy bed in the living room) and the other one could be any of the Cat 3's. What are the chances that I will get it?
When you read these boards everyone seems to submit them early, but my travel agent didn't know you could. I use them as my agent because I like them, but even they admit that I am more of a Disney Cruise expert then they are.
So what are my chances?

I highly recommend booking your trip thru DCL first, then x-ferring to your agent after the fact

By booking directly thru DCL - you can fax them your request today for cruises that have not opened up yet - if you do that - you should have no problem getting your cat 3 in October.

Once you get your cabin, then you can transfer your Cat 3 to your agent to save you a thousand or so if it is a good agent.

October is traditionally a slow month for them, excluding Halloween week - put in the request via fax now!

You will love your cat 3 - and the concierge service

Debbie - you can PM me - and I can fill you in on any details of Cat 3 or the process - or i can give you my agent who will definitely save you alot of money

Neighbor, let me know where in Long Island you are from - maybe we are close together

My agent faxed in my request this week to inventory control. As long as it is in already, do you think I will get the suite. (I had to tell my agent to fax it in beforehand). I live in Port Washington.
And yes, I did Cat 3 before ( I upgraded at port last time) and now can never go back.

I have a couple of questions :cool1:
If you go through DCL for a Cat 2 (I have 7 people going) in 2007 will that stop the chances of the $200.00 of on board credit that you would have received on board? Where do you get the fax form? Thanks for any help

Has anyone ever requested a Cat. 1 early and, if so, did they have success?

I faxed in a request for a Cat 3, and got a call later letting me know that my Cat 1 room had been reserved for me.

NO WAY I could have paid for that! Ultimately I got my favorite cabin, 8532......

I think you have a pretty good chance at getting one of the midship Cat 3s. You have faxed in your request over two years in advance for a cruise date that is definitely a "non-peak" period for DCL. And you have told them you are flexible to exact departure date (as long as it is in October) and to which of the four midship Cat 3s you get. By way of comparison, I am sailing in a midship Cat 3 (8032) on the Magic this October, and I was able to book it while onboard the Wonder last June (2004) - only 16 months ahead of time. (I didn't care which of the midship Cat 3s I got, but I was specific as to which week in October I wanted to book.) So, unless I was just unusually lucky, I would think your chances are pretty good.

One note: If DCL sticks to its pattern, the Magic will be in drydock the beginning of October 2007. (It will be in drydock the first two weeks of this October and normally goes back every other year.) So, there may only be a couple of 7-day cruises to choose from that month.

Good luck! :earsboy:

What is the fax# and how do you word the request? I've been on 1 cruise and we lucked into a Cat 3. Now I can't get one.

It was my understanding when we rebooked onboard that if I reserve an advance date through DCL (one that's not available), the 10% and $200 onboard credit is not eligible for that (I wanted a specific date in '07). However, I can book a date onboard for '06 and when the '07 stuff is released I could switch it myself (by calling DCL) to an '07 and my incentives would be transferrable.

If you want to be sure, I'd call DCL.

Thanks Lisa :goodvibes

We want to go in September of 07...it looks like we'll have to do the same thing. Book a fake date and switch later :rotfl2: Oh the things we do for the  of DCL!!!!

Hey all:
I did not fax in my request but rather did it right on the ship with the future cruise desk. They submitted my request for a Cat#1 in Feb 2004 exactly two years in advance for the same week Feb 2006. In the first week after that week came available to book, I received a call from DCl asking if I still wanted the cabin.
I quickly sent in my $3,500 deposit ( 7 guests @ $500 each ) and was confirmed for the WED suite #8030. Six months to go an cannot wait.

So when you did your request on board the ship they didn't ask you for the deposit at that time? I thought no matter what you had to give your deposit at that time even if you were on a request for a specfic room... :earseek:

That's wonderful, I'll put that to the test on our upcoming cruise on Sept 17th
Thanks for the info
