Casual Dinner Upon Arrival?

Any suggestions for a casual dinner? We arrive at AKL 6:00 PM, have a rental car, and are looking for a nice, casual dinner location. We need to be up early (6:30 AM for Sunrise Safari), so we don't want to be out late. What about the Big River Grille & Brewing at the Boardwalk? Thanks for any input.

If you want to stay at your hotel, the quick service there is really yummy (I love the falafel pita with couscous). The restaurants at AKL are really good, so if it were me, I'd pick one and just hang around the resort. There's so much to see just from the hotel and you could do the night-vision viewing of the animals to finish up the day.

We stayed at AKL this past August and my mom and even my friend spent a lot of time just sitting out on the balcony watching the animals. My friend decided to save money and stay at an AS resort, but whenever we came back to AKL to pick up my mom after her nap, it'd be a pain to get him off the balcony to go eat.

I totally recommend you just stay at AKL and eat at Boma!

ITA with Agri. Mara (the CS) offers some really good food! Also, this is the one resort that's almost a destination in itself............the lobby if filled with so many interesting artifacts, and viewing the animals offers plenty of entertainment for an evening. I, too, wouldn't bother going elsewhere.

BOMA if you are on the DDP otherwise there is a nice quick service dinning spot at the resort.

Sanaa! It's super yummy, and you won't have far to go since it's at Kidani. You'll save a lot of time on transportation so you can turn in early and be ready for your sunrise safari!

I agree with Sanaa. It's surprisingly nice for a 1TS WDW restaurant and food is better than Big River Grille.

I would definitely choose one of the AKL/AKV restaurants. You're paying all that money to stay at an amazing resort so why not start off your vacation by immersing yourself in the atmosphere? That way you also don't need the added headache of finding your way to another resort after having already dealt with the headache of finding your way from the airport to your resort in the first place. Another advantage is that if anybody in your group is getting tired and others want to stay for dessert or coffee the person who's tired can just walk up to the room to rest while everybody else enjoys finishing their leisurely meal.

I also love the restaurants at AKL but we always spend our first evening in the World Showcase to have dinner and watch Illuminations. Our favorite QS is the fish and chip stand in England. It's such a nice way to start vacation and we're usually back in bed by 10:30 so we can be up early for MK rope drop the next day! Have a great time!
