Castle Inn and Suites vs. Grand Legacy

Hi everyone, I've read all the reviews, but I'm hoping for some personal experiences. We've stayed at Grand Legacy on our two previous DL trips and liked it. Not fancy, but clean, close, good size room, and we used and liked the pool and hot tub. But I looked for our next trip (October--yes, I know about the crowds) and it's, well, a bit more than I'd like to pay. I found the Castle Inn and Suites and we'd get a 2 queen + foldout couch room for about $80 less/night (including taxes and the parking costs--I'm pretty sure we will have a car). The reviews of it seem fine, but I'm curious how the rooms compare in size and quality to Grand Legacy. And I can look up the objective distance (about .2 miles farther) but I know sometimes in practice things feel different. Has anyone stayed at both and can offer a good comparison? We've stayed at Kings Inn, too and that is farther than I'd like to walk. Thanks in advance.

What room type do you stay in at grand legacy? The older rooms? Or the newer rooms in the lobby tower or the back tower?

We've stayed in the older rooms before. Currently they only have the newer rooms available, which may be why they are more than I'm used to.

Ok, so I would say the older rooms at grand legacy are pretty comparable to the castle inn. The castle inn is an older remodel. So it’s showing wear and tear, but still nice and a tad dated. The rooms feel dark there as well. I would say the grand legacy rooms are a bit newer of a remodel than castle inn.

We only stayed in a 2 queen room at Castle Inn, so I cannot compare sizes since it sounds like you’re looking at a bigger room with a couch.

Last time we stayed at grand legacy we stayed in the lobby tower and had a great stay. We thought we would hear noise from the 5th and never did. We actually had such a quiet and amazing nights sleep there! We would absolutely stay in the newer rooms again.

I know Castle Inn has free parking and Grand Legacy charges for parking. But sometimes Grand Legacy will have specials that have free parking.

The pool is larger and better at Grand Legacy with the zero entry compared to the Castle Inn.

I know parking can get really tight at both hotels.

Do you have kids that are little but no longer in strollers? The walk to castle inn isn’t bad, but if you have tired little ones, it might seem a lot longer than grand legacy.

For us we tend to lean towards the cheaper option for a hotel. It is always a hard decision! Especially when you have had good stays at your go to place and want to try somewhere new. Good luck with your decision!

Thank you so much! That is a really helpful comparison. You have given me a lot to think about. Yes, our kids will be 6, 9, and 10. We'll bring a stroller for the youngest, but I do worry we have been spoiled by the quick walk from the Grand Legacy. I'd love to try the newer rooms there, too, but the savings we'd get if we stay at Castle Inn would pay for our G + so it's not nothing. Thanks again for the information.

Totally get that! Everything is SO expensive now and it really adds up fast. Hope you guys have a great trip!
