We are hoping for a Disney wedding next November 10. I know they are decorating the castle this year for Christmas with lights. I am wondering when they are going to start and when they will be finished. I would love to get the MK shoot but I do not want the crane in my pictures. I thought I had this all figures out but then something else always comes up.

Thanks,
Linda

They are currently decorating the castle for this year (we saw the crane last weekend). Usually Christmas begins at WDW around Veteran's Day. I am almost positive the crane will be gone by 11/10 next year. I believe that Disney's photography service is able to edit the crane out if it was still around for some reason.

It depends what they are doing with the castle for next year. It is not uncommon for the crane to be behind the castle from November until mid-January as they use it to put up all the Christmas decorations. But DPS will take photos at angles to keep it out of your MK photos and if it gets in there they can photoshop it out.

Thanks for your replies. I know we were down there last November and I kind of remember the crane "hiding" behind or to the side of the castle during the day. I thought they would not start decorating it until after Halloween. I wonder what the castle will look like with all the lights when they are not on. I know they say they are the same color as the different parts of the castle they are are on but I just can't believe they will "disapear" when they are not on - although this IS Disney - they can do anything. Has anyone seen the castle with the lights put on yet - not lite - but just on the castle. I would love to see some photos of how it looks.

Thanks,

Linda

We were at MK from 9/29-10/1. They have definitely started putting the lights on the castle, but I couldn't tell you where. The lights are tiny LEDs from what I've seen and understand. I have not seen them turned on of course, but I couldn't see what they've put up so far from the ground. I will look for pictures when I get home tonight, not sure if I have any.

Even though the lights will likely be off during our MK shoot, I would love to have them in our photos! I would think that DPS would take care of any crane or Christmas light problems in editing if needed.

Greetings, our wedding this November is fast-approaching and we are doing the MK photo shoot. About 2 months we received a warning notice telling us it could be possible that "equipment" might appear in our photos, BUT Disney photography would professionally airbrush them out at no cost to us and they should not be noticable. We are forging ahead and trust Disney will not let us down with the photos.

Seconding what Pluto has said.

Dear Rachel,

This message is to inform you that there are cranes scheduled to be located at various points surrounding Cinderella’s Castle from September through November. These cranes will be putting up Christmas lights and decorations on and around the castle.

Attached you will find a Question and Answer sheet which may help clarify any questions you may have about how your Magic Kingdom wedding portraits could be affected by these cranes.

and some of the f.a.qs that were also included that might help you in deciding:
Can we cancel?

Yes, you can cancel up to 24 hours prior to the event (or by 11am on Friday if the session is on Sunday or Monday).

Will we lose my payment if we cancel?

No, you will not lose your payment if you cancel up to 24 hours prior to the event.

Since we are being inconvenienced through no fault of our own, can you compensate us by reducing the amount of our package or giving us an add-on at no charge?

No, as stated in our collateral, we are unable to make compensation for circumstances beyond our control. The castle area in the Magic Kingdom is a working stage.

Can we reschedule?

Yes, you can reschedule within one year.

What happens to our payment if we reschedule?

Your payment will go towards the new event time.

Can you just remove the crane with digital work?

If the crane is in front of the castle, we will try to move you into an existing photo of the castle. If the crane is behind the castle, we will try to remove it digitally.

When we have our session, what will be done if only half of the lights are on the castle?

If you don’t like the look of the castle, we will try to move you into an existing photo of the castle without lights.

If I don’t like the way it looks when I receive my pictures, can I still get a refund?

No, we are unable to offer refunds after the photo shoot has been done. If you don’t like the way the castle looks, we will try to move you into an existing photo of the castle.

Thanks for all your replies. I would love to see how your pictures come out. Please let us all know after your MK shoot (I just love looking at these pictures).

Linda
