Castaway Club?

when you get to the port, there is a special area for check in for CC members. However if the lines are shorter at other spots at the counter, check in at those.

there is a CC reception on the ship. free drinks for an hour with the captain.

you usually get some type of gift in your room as well. Check on Barb's site, as she usually mentions this stuff in her trip reports.

Will we get a special invitation to the reception? Is it formal?

PiperG, yes you should receive an invitation to the reception. And no, the reception is rather informal.

We just returned from the June 1 sailing and had a great beach towel with Castaway Club on it! Very Nice!

The reception was informal and fun. We were able to speak with a number of the ships officers!

Have a great time, I know we did!!!

Are you automatically in the Castaway Club if you sailed Disney before, or are you only in it if you go on a second cruise within a certain amount of time? My husband I cruised the 7 Day in Oct. 2001 and never heard or received a thing about now being in the CC. We did cruise using DVC points, would that matter? We plan to cruise again in Nov. 2003. So will we be Castaway Club members then or not? Should I have received something by now or should I call someone? Thanks.

All you have to do is sail once to become a CC member. Call DCL and tell them when you last cruised and that you have not received any info. They can give you CC Club number over the phone just to have. Anytime you rebook with Disney give your CC # and they will note it on the reservation. That way you will be sure to get your gift and invitation to reception. I believe you also get two cloisonne pins in your stateroom (these used to mailed out with literature about the club but I do not think they do that anymore).

Some people reported that even though they sailed before, they didn't specifically tell Disney and did not received the gifts. Better to be safe than sorry.

You also get a $200 onboard credit if you rebook another cruise while onboard.

We always let the reservationist know our CC number.

A note on the CC receptions:
The Magic's and Wonder's are quite different, mainly because of the huge number of returning cruisers on the Magic lately (our 5/25 cruise broke the record with well over 800, and I wouldn't be surprised if that record gets broken again).
On the Magic, the party is held throughout the whole Beat Street district when there are that many people. It was very festive...decorated with balloons and ice sculptures, with live music in the clubs. There was a receiving line of officers, and the captain came in and addressed the groups in each of the clubs.
On the Wonder, it's usually in the Cadillac Lounge (although it is moved to Rockin' Bar D for larger crowds). No balloons or ice sculptures, but you get more time to chat with the officers since there are less people and it's a more informal setting (not dresswise, which is always pretty informal, but atmospherewise).
The towel is the latest gift, and we also had our two CC pins waiting for us along with it.

We sailed in January 2000, and I never received any info from Disney about Castaway Club. When booking our next cruise last month, I just called the 800 number and was given my Castaway number to use...no problem.
