Castaway Cay lockers?

This is our first cruise. It's only going to be my husband and I. We're wondering where we can stash our camera while we're both snorkeling and swimming. Are there lockers on Castaway Cay? What do other people do with their valuables?

Also, we have concerns about the "table mate" situation. Neither one of us are social butterflies are we are both stressing about making conversation with strangers. Is there a way to request tables to ourselves?

No lockers on the island, just descreately keep them hidden in your "stuff". While I won't go so far as to say there isn't any theivery on DCL, remember, this is a private island, so you don't have to protect your self from the general public. The people around you are on vacation too.

As for table mates, I personally would at least give it a try. While some people do have horror stories, we've always had a good experience over-all with our table mates (some have been better than others). We missed having table mates when the first time we cruised with DS that we got put at a table by-our-selves when we changed our dining time from late to early seating once we got on board. So if you really want to skip table mates, you can put in a request once you get on board (you'll be told where to go for dining requests and Palo reservations once you board).

My 2 cents on table mates: as a family of 3, we had our own table the first two nights for dinner, but for the last two they put a couple of tables together. I ended up sitting next to a woman whom I'd seen around with her daughter quite a bit and as we talked we discovered that we knew each other from the DIS boards!

My only concern about my camera while I snorkle on CC is keeping the sand out. I take along a zip loc bag and put it in my beach bag under a towel and leave it on my chair.

While no place is perfectly safe from theft, CC has to be pretty close. I just relax and don't worry - and that is why I am going on the CC double dip in 06.

I don't take my good camera to castaway cay. I take disposable regular and water cameras to use while there. The pics come out great.

As far as tablemates..you will love them and you will enjoy having someone to talk with besides only each other in the evenings...lol.

I have another solution to keeping your stuff safer get a pacmate bag. It's a solid cable mesh style bag that can be locked to your chair or the tree next to where you set up. They are easy to find by doing a google search. I have never had anything go missing while on CC(knock on wood as i'll be there again for our double dip cruise in '06)but it can happen. Maybe someday the folks at disney will read this and provide lockers of course for a small fee which i'd gladly pay to keep items safe.

I did a search and I couldn't find one of these. Could you post a link directing to a website that sells them? Thanks so much. I also worry about stuff being left on a chair at CC. I tend to stay with our stuff while the rest of the family goes in the water.

Oooppps my bad it's pacsafe. There are many types but the one you want is the travel safe 100. This is also great for securing video camera at the WDW hotels when you have only a wall safe. Now with the correct name a google search will work and you can find out who's offering the best price.

Thanks for the pacsafe hint. That's perfect. My husband wasn't happy about covering our camera with a towel and "hoping for the best".
