is it necessary to reserve these ahead of time? Not sure if we want 2 or 3. How about the snorkels? Cant really rent them ahead of time cos they wont know what size we need?

I can say that there were plenty of tubes and floats for rent on CC this past Friday that we rented when we got to the island.

We were there early, I do not know what the supply was later in the day.

They were both $6 to rent.

I wouldn't think that you would need to reserve in advance, especially if you plan on getting a float once you get to the beach...

If my memory is right, I got a 10% AAA discount by reserving on the ship. Combining the bikes, snorkel and floats made it quite reasonable. The floats also make great hammock pads. No more getting cut up by the hammock rope.

We brought our own floats from the $ store based on a hint from this board. It was easy to see where ds and dh were since they had the only non-blue floats. We deflated one and brought it home because my ds wanted to, but we left the other.

I am not sure of the rental price of snorkles, but you can buy a decent set for about $20 at Costco or Walmart or Target, etc. This is worth carrying, especially if you will snorkle more than once. Snorkle vests are free and required on CC. Make sure that the snorkles you buy have the regulator valve at the bottom to drain out water rather than the plain plastic tube. This makes it easier and a lot less salt water in your mouth. Kid's masks usually have the plain tube, but it is worth it to buy the better snorkle (I think it was about $8 at Walmart-and most is on clearance now)
