Hi, this is my first Disney Cruise, upgraded to concierge level for a couple of reasons, one is to rent a cabana on Castaway Cay, my questions are they really worth it and I just read you can pick the one you would like, is that true also are any of the hammocks outside of the Cabana not in the sun or can you move an umbrella there. (family of 4) Also how close to the food? Thanks to whoever answers.

We had a cabana once and while it was nice I don't feel like it is worth the extra cost plus the cost of concierge to get one. There is a hammock at each cabana - can't remember if it was shaded. We were in #10 and it was maybe a 5 minute walk to food.

We had one but on Serenity Bay (they are much cheaper). As far as I know there are no umbrellas so you would need to bring your own.

For my family, it is worth it but YMMV. We've never had a concierge cabin but have had a cabana many times. My understanding is if you book through shore side concierge, you may request a particular cabana. If you book on your own, you select from any that are available when you book. Those on Serenity Bay are restricted to adults only. On both beaches, the lower the number the closer to the buffet. However, #1 on the family beach is accessible and is held for families that need it.

No umbrellas but the hammock may be shaded by the flora.

If you are Concierge you are virtually guaranteed a cabana. Send your email on day 125 at midnight with your requested cabana number (and all other requests like Be Our Chef) because emails are prioritized by time they arrive. I've only ever had a Serenity Bay cabana, and there has never been much shade on the hammocks.

Value is a subjective thing. Some people find value in a $2.5 million Ferrari while others are perfectly happy with a clapped out 1995 Dodge Grand Caravan for $800. Only you can determine what is worth it to you.

Distance to the food is the same as value. Close to the food for one person may be a long slog for another. I don't have a problem walking 1.5 miles to the store. Others will drive if it's down the street from them. It's all subjective.

Which I believe are not allowed to be brought on board.

There are plenty of umbrellas on the common beaches.

For our family, we find them to be an added bonus to our CC day, if one is available we will always grab it.
There are no umbrellas near the hammocks, but I guess depending on the sun and the trees around you may get some shade.
We usually just walk or bike to the food for lunch, Yes, bikes are included with the cabin rental. They list it as a one hour rental, but most times we are told we can just hang on to them for the day.

Have fun

We find getting a cabana to be worth every penny. The distance to the food isn't much different than if you were sitting in lounge chairs on the regular family beach. There aren't umbrellas covering the hammocks but I bet if you asked concierge for one, it would be there when you arrived.

I don't know if it's usually part of the deal but our cabana host gave us rides (in a golf cart) to the BBQ or ... Pretty much anywhere we wanted to go. He was very nice. :)

We loved our Cabana #6. There are chairs and umbrellas in front of the Cabanas. The private beach is very private. Not many people. Free tubes and floats. Hammock, ours was in the shade a little. Outdoor shower.
The inside has seating, a fridge, with complimentary drinks, and cool wet towels. The deck has loungers and there is a kind of awning. There is a snack basket, with fruit and snacks. We were very close to Cookies and the bathroom.

Conciege is awesome. We were on the Dream and our room was close to the lounge. Breakfast, two, cocktail hours with food, and late night treats. The concierge staff is wonderful. We felt very pampered and they follow you to ️CC and the Cabanas. I ate so much at the lounge. The night we went to Palo, I was not hungry do to the cocktail hour. Yummy food.

Good luck!

If you are on the Dream or the Fantasy, you are not guaranteed to get a cabana on Castaway Cay. There are more cabins in concierge than there are cabanas.

Our concierge experience was less than stellar. The cabana experience both times (once concierge and once not) was also lacking. No one ever answered the bell when we rang. We had to walk up and down the beach to find a waiter to order a drink. Never got anyone to drive us on the cart even when they said they would. If it happened once, I could chalk it up to a bad day. Twice, nope.

We are Platinum Castaway members and were able to book a cabana on the Magic in January. I went online at 12:01a on T-120 when registration opened up and there were 3 left, so not all taken by Concierge. It was definitely worth it considering what is included, and how quiet there is. The beach area by the cabanas is roped off from the general area with an staff member checking wristbands. It was very easy to bring food back, we were in Cabana #2 which was perfect.

Is it worth it to get CC just to get the cabana, well that depends on each person's financial circumstances. But I could say the same thing adding up how much all of the cruises cost me to get to Platinum. That being said, I would be tempted to get one whenever I can going forward.

Only for the family cabanas. For Serenity Bay they are just behind the chairs and umbrellas for us peons. :)

We had a concierge cabin in February 2016 on Disney Dream and we did get a cabana, which was very nice but I'm not sure I can justify the price again in the future for concierge or a cabana. At the time I booked concierge cabins were only a few hundred more than the verandahs, so it seemed a reasonable splurge. Now they are going for thousands more on some cruises, and I just cannot justify the additional cost.

On CC, I did enjoy the hammock but I felt itchy and I'm pretty sure there were sea lice or some sort of bug which made it difficult to enjoy the hammock. The shower was nice, and there was fresh fruit and snacks, as well as complimentary sunscreen, and a radio (but ALL of the cabanas have a radio, so it was annoying hearing the radio at the cabana next to us).

The best part was the beach which looked almost deserted in some of our pictures, compared to the main beach which was crowded with hundreds of people. We still had to stand in line to pick up our snorkeling gear, and if you do plan to snorkel the main beach area is better so you're not even spending time by the cabana beach. Same goes for the water slides. I just keep waiting in line for the water slides thinking I was wasting my money on the cabana. It also comes with a free bike rental, but again then you are not spending that time at the cabana. If you plan to just hang out in a hammock and relax, it's a wise investment. If you hope to be more active on CC maybe it's not worth it.

We had a safe but it broke and CC security had to come to open it. It definitely malfunctioned, not user error, because we had used it several times throughout the day to access our wallets. So it's nice to have a safe for security but it was a little stressful that it was not opening for us when we were ready to leave the island.
