AAAHHH Paradise Found
Castaway Cay

We woke up this morning to a beautiful sunny day at Castaway Cay. I was giddy with anticipation since the last time there it was cool and rainy and I thought too cold to get into the water. Watched us get docked and finished breakfast.

We decided to go down to wait in line to get off the ship and WHOA Nelly! We took the elevator in the front down to deck 2 and the doors opened up and it was a madhouse. We stood in line as more and more people came down the stairs and lined up to get off. I think we stood there for about 10 minutes and then they announced that people needed to not congregate in the stairways or in front of the elevator for safety reasons. We all laughed at that since there was no way any of us were leaving. I felt SO sorry for the people who had rooms on deck 2 because trying to fight their way into the hallway was a daunting task. Finally the line started to move and we made our way out into the warm and beautiful sunshine.

We opted to walk to the Family Beach instead of taking the tram and we took advice from others on this board and kept walking until we were straight across from the kids play area. It was nice and we got beach chairs for our family, we slicked up the kids with sunscreen and they took off.

After getting everything situated hubby went to the bar to get us some drinks. When we were here before I wasn’t that impressed with the island and our kids were so bored after a few hours but this time was totally different. We played in the water all day long stopping to get out only to eat lunch at Cookies. It was a fairly decent lunch and we enjoyed sitting there looking at the Island.

We took a walk over to She Sell Sea Shells to get some souvenirs for our kids teachers and for them and then back to the Family Beach.

At about 3 we decided we’d had enough sun so we walked back to the ship once more. I think I now understand the obsession people have with that Island.

We got ready for dinner in Lumiere’s once more and this meal was probably the best of the week. We took pictures with the kids, handed out the tips to Cyprian and Arile (tipped more than recommended) and then tonight’s show was the juggler and a rock and roll comedian.

The kids thoroughly enjoyed the show and our 9 year old really liked the potty humor parts. The characters came out for a part of it and my dd lit up like a light bulb when Ariel was produced on the balcony in the Walt Disney Theatre.

We set off back to the room to finish our last minute packing and pack our day bags for tomorrow’s long wait at MCO for our flight. We booked a day room at the Hyatt so we kept out their swimming suits so they could swim.

After putting the luggage in the hallway we put the kids to bed and we watched Something’s Gotta Give on the television and then we called it an evening.

After the whole week I was finally kind of sad to leave but I think it had more to do with Castaway Cay and the fun we had there than anything. We set a wakeup call for 7 am so we could go to Topsiders for breakfast and then get off the ship to meet our Limo at 8:30.

WOW! After three Disney Cruises I've NEVER seen Ariel! I hope this is something new and they continue this for our cruise in November!

Thanks for writing your detailed report...although I enjoyed reading it I didn't enjoy the negative experiences you and your family had. Again, I am sorry that everyone at some point was sick. I hope your next vacation is more magical!
