My sister worked at WDW a few years ago during a summer break from University of Georgia. She told me that in her orientation, all new employees were required to stand up on a stage and recite one of the scripts from a given attaction. They all had to do it, regardless of what job you were hired to do. She was one of the hostesses at the Indiana Jones stunt show at MGM, but the counter service, new management, supervisors, everybody had to do it. Anyway, my other little sister who is now a freshman in college (& not as big a ham as the rest of us) is thinking about working at WDW during this summer break, but is worried about the stage and recital. Are the new CMs still required to do this?

I've never heard of that. I don't know about College Program, but regular part-time full-time Cast Members don't have to do this. Perhaps some CP Alumni on the board could answer the question further.

It doesn't seem like a big deal to me - if you can't recite a small speech in front of fellow CMs, you're going to have a hard time working with the public no matter what job you have at WDW. Trust me, EVERYONE has a spiel they have to learn. Front Desk, Custodial, Attractions, Guest Services... I can't think of a role that doesn't have one - just some aren't as long or frequent.

That's good to know. Thanks for the response. She doesn't plan on working in the college program so I'm sure she'll be happy about the news.

This has been a requirement for those who wish to work attractions in the studios but those in other roles no.

I'm a CP alum and I never had to do this, nor had I ever heard the rumor until now. I worked in merchandise. We did do training specific to our park, but I never had to do any public speaking.
