Day 9 Part 2
October 23rd - Packing up and driving to Port Canaveral
I was starving by this point and was looking forward to lunch at Earl Of Sandwich so we drove to Downtown Disney for lunch and shopping.
This was the hottest and most humid day of all!!

I was sooooo glad that we weren't doing a park because I would have been Miss Cranky Pants if I was stuck in that heat and humidity all day!
We parked the van and got Kira out and settled and then Rob had some problems with the alarm on the van. It wouldn't lock when he hit the button so I found some shade for Kira and I while he tried to fix it. It wasn't working so Rob had to lock the van with the key.
We brought Kira's balloon with us because we told her that we couldn't take it on the ship with us so we were going to try to find a little girl to give it to. She was actually really good about this and was really sweet about the whole thing.
Just as we were about to cross the road from the parking lot, I stopped because behind us was a little girl in a stroller, not much older than Kira.
I asked the parents if their girl would enjoy having a balloon and they said yes so we untied it and let Kira pass it to the girl. I was so proud of my girl, she didn't freak out or say no, she passed her the balloon and said "Here you go!"
The funny thing was that we found out that the little girl, who was the proud new owner of a Mickey balloon, was also named Kira.
Off we went to EOS. Rob and Kira got a table while I got us our lunch. I looked over at Rob and noticed that he was totally stressed. I guess she was acting up and after the week in WDW, he was at the edge of insanity by now
It took awhile for lunch to be ready and I thought she was melting down because she was hungry but even after she started eating she was difficult at best!
So we rushed through lunch and hit the Toy Store!
I went in search of some Princess stuff for my girls while Rob took Kira to look at toys and to play with Mr. Potato Head.
I was a little disappointed this trip in the stuff they had for sale. They had the typical princess dresses and high-heeled shoes (what is up with heels and toddlers??????

) but they didn't have too much else. They had tons of Fairy stuff but the girls aren't into them just yet. I did find a couple of things for them but mostly, I came out disappointed. They hardly had any clothes for toddlers, I found one cool Princess shirt but it had stuff on the front of it that I don't think would last past 2 or 3 washes.
When I found Rob, Kira was playing with a monorail

We did end up buying her a little monorail but now that she's home, she never plays with it
Go figure.
Kira was rather grumpy by now so we figured it was time to go.
We had a one-hour trip to the port but it felt like 3 hours because Kira was acting up. I think she just hated being in the car seat. She never was a kid to just sit in a car and be happy to take a drive somewhere.
Rob and I had never been so darn happy to go over those cool bridges and see the port
We found the Residence Inn and I stayed with Kira while Rob checked-in, lucky duck!
Waiting for Rob...
Wow, I was so stressed by the time he came back! I tried every trick in the book to end this meltdown but nothing worked!
Rob came back and he started to tell me about our room but we couldn't hear anything over Kira screaming so we got out of the van and just shut the doors and talked outside.
We could see her and still hear her but we both just needed to get out of that environment, even just for 5 minutes. It was so bad that we both just had to laugh about it! It was our little princess at her worst! We had never seen her like this before
So after figuring out where the room was and the best way there, we (gulp!) got back into the van and parked. She was thrilled to come out of the car seat and once I handed her her Tink bag, all was right in the world again!
We lugged all our crap through the lobby and found our room on the first floor, as requested. Walked in the room and was happy to find a gorgeous room!
We originally were booked at the Radisson for $156 in a mini-suite, as they call it, but a few months before we left there were some security issues with their system and some people who had booked with them had their credit card info stolen and charges were made to them. The CC I had used for booking was now expired but I didn't feel comfortable with the whole thing so I ended up cancelling with them and booking at the Residence Inn.
This was a fabulous decision as I loved everything about this hotel! We got a similar type suite for less ($125) AND it included a nice breakfast, which was not included at the Radisson. It was right next door, even closer to the port and I liked the layout MUCH better than the Radisson. The Radisson is huge and the last time we stayed there our room was way at the back and it was so far away from the lobby and pool! Here's some room pics....
This room was perfect for us! Kira loved exploring the room and was much happier now!
Just as we were opening up a suitcase to find our swimsuits, Nancy texted me to see if we had arrived yet.
We were meeting up with Nancy, Chuck, Tony, Stacy, Mike & Robin at the pool
To be continued...
