T-Rex at Downtown Disney - October 18th, 2009
This was our first visit to T-Rex and we were looking forward to it. I know it's not fine dining, but we like the big cheesy, themed restaurants, especially ones we've never been to.
I had been showing Kira videos and pictures of T-Rex for months and now and she was very excited to be eating with the dinosaurs!
We were dining with our friends again so I called months in advance and made reservations for us at 6pm. It was super duper crazy busy but with a reservation, we didn't wait long, maybe 10 minutes. Kira LOVED the play area while we waited and Rob had to literally drag her out of there when our table was ready!
The restaurant was super duper loud but we were expecting that. What I wasn't expecting was just how huge this place was!
We were seated in front of the blue ice room, in the main (and first) area not far from the entrance. This proved to be a huge pain because the back of my chair was right up next to a
very busy walkway. My chair was constantly getting bumped, ran into, walked in to, and kicked.
Kira got some crayons to play with but she still had attitude about us tearing her away from the dig zone.
Can you see the 'tude?? LOL!
It took while to get our drinks and get our orders in but there was enough stuff going on in this place in order to distract us all.
We got Kira the mac and cheese
She seemed to like the tiny amount she actually ate. For the most part, we didn't order her own meals on this trip because she doesn't really eat much and I hate paying $8 for her to eat 5 bites of something. But she had been eating mostly hot dogs at this point and I wanted her to have something a little more substantial. I wasn't worried too much because she eats a lot of fruit.
For those of you who didn't read my trip report, every day that we were in the parks, I brought along a container full of fresh cut up fruit that we bought at Publix. I put it in the freezer for an hour before we left each morning and I kept it in an insulated bag. By 10:30-11:00AM, we took a break from touring and ate our nice cold fruit. This seemed to really recharge both Rob and Kira and it kept them going during the day.
I believe Rob ordered the steak
The restaurant was so loud and Kira was sitting in between us, I don't remember if Rob enjoyed this or not.

He seemed pretty happy so I am guessing that he enjoyed it.
I ordered the cheeseburger..
Let me just say how wonderful it was to not have a whole wheat bun this time!
My meal was pretty good. It would have been MUCH better had my food been hot instead of just barely warm. I could tell that the waffle fries would have been amazing if they were hot and fresh but they were lukewarm and had been sitting around for awhile.
Here's the chicken and boneyard buffet that our friends ordered
I believe everyone enjoyed their food, I don't recall any major problems.
At this point I could see that Rob was conspiring with the waitress to bring us some kind of dessert for all of us but I really wasn't interested. I had planned on walking over to Ghirardelli's later for a sundae.
I tried to stop him from getting us dessert but the waitress wouldn't listen to me and I guess I was outvoted
Apparently Rob was making arrangements for them to bring us something that said Happy Anniversary on it since we didn't do anything special for our dinner yesterday.
And this was the end result
I laughed at the spelling but I ate some of the dessert that came with it...donuts with dipping sauce.
While it wasn't bad, I'm just not a donut kind of girl. Heck, I'm not really a dessert kind of girl but if I do get dessert, I like something with chocolate and peanut butter in it
Kira sure enjoyed dipping and smearing the donuts in everything though!
All in all, it was a fun experience. The company was great, the food was good, the place was very cool.
I give it a

If the food was hot and we had a better table, I would have added another
I can't tell you how much the meal was because our friends managed the snag the bill before we could
