I have Linux (Ubuntu) running on a laptop now, and was wondering if Caskbill's program will run on it? None of the new widgets on DVCmember.com work.

Don't know for sure. I've never heard anything one way or the other, but my understanding is that software written for windows will not run on Linux. For example Microsoft has a version of Microsoft Office for Windows, and a version of Microsoft Office for Mac, but no version of Microsoft Office for Linux. The same is true for many other software products: A Windows version, and a Mac version.

Basically the three operating systems are totally different.

I don't know if Linux can emulate Windows or not. I know Mac users can purchase emulation programs and in many cases can successfully run Windows programs. Don't know if the same is true for Linux. You could probably just try it and see what happens.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

You are correct, Windows software will not run on Linux. The programs must be written for open source. There are several utilities, such as Flashplayer 9 which is downloadable for Linux. Linux has its own office suite called Open Office, and you can save those files in other file extensions, ie: .doc so that they will open in Windows. There are also other convertable software for say MP3 files that are proprietary. Dell has just started loading Linux under the OS name "Utumbu" for sale. There may now start to be more a demand for Linux written software. I wonder if the other program posted on DISBoards will run? (Can't remember the name, senior moment!)
