Casino near Gettsyburg?

Developers are trying to build a casino near the Gettsyburg battlefield.

The usual arguments.

Pros: supposed job growth, more tourist dollars, etc
Cons: national treasure.

I live in an area flooded with casinos now (atlantic city, Philadelphia area) and I don't know how many good paying jobs they bring to the area. Most of the ones in Atlantic City are not doing that well.

Well. . .casinos do provide some decently paying jobs. I think fighting a casino at Gettysburg using the notion that it won't provide some decent jobs is a poor one.

However, a casino near Gettysburg? Why not lease the space in a church vestibule for slot machines, it's about the same thing!

I wouldn't worry too much about it. You see what happened with Disney's America, and that was a family-friendly theme park.
