Cashiers and the Disney Dining Plan

So I've noticed a decline in the quality of Disney cashiers lately, most notably at the resort I like to stay, the Beach Club.

I always get the dining plan and will typically use a snack in the morning when I'm getting breakfast for the family. I like to use a snack on the most expensive part of my meal and not on the drinks like water and orange juice since I can get more value later on.

So I'll typically tell the cashier which item I want to be charged a snack and I also let them know I will be paying cash for the rest. Well they seem to really have trouble with that and almost always "accidentally" ringing up all the items as snacks, and then they have difficulty correcting that mistake.

I've given up on trying to classify one item as a snack so I just typically pay for all of them cash. Frustrating!

Why don't you separate your items into two transactions; one DDP, one cash. Then you don't have to waste time explaining what you want. Just tell them you have two transactions.

That's what I tried to do. One transaction for a snack and the rest are cash. 2 transactions.

Maybe next time hand them the snacks you are paying for with credits, once that transaction is complete and you have your KTTW card back, put the rest of the items on the counter and say now I want to pay cash for these.

Yea I will probably give that a shot. Cute avatar by the way.

I had this happen to us a few times last year. My solution, have the cashier do two seperate transactions. I was a little upset when I used a snack credit on a banana dd had to have last year, and only ate one bite. I wanted to just pay for it.

We always put no charging on our kids KTTW cards and then we use those for all our DDP transactions to make sure that nothing extra can be charged. It really works perfectly. If I usually use my disney visa rewards for extras anyway so that works out nicely to have a separate card entirely for tips, extra snacks, etc.

I have found this to work for me too. In fact I have not once had a problem with it.

Don't get me started on the CM's at the BC Marketplace.

when I stayed there in 2009, one of them convinced my friend that it was a good idea to get three "snack" items for a dining credit - except that we were on the DXDP so instead of an appetizer, entree, dessert and beverage at a sit down restaurant, she used it for a yogurt parfait, a bottle of juice and a bottle of water (all of which counted as snack credits which is what my friend had asked - the CM said to her she'd ring it up as a meal credit instead of "wasting" 3 snack credits).
