We are staying for 9 days in January and are doing the first stint of our stay at POP and are then switching to PVB for our first DVC stay! I am able to see both stays in MDE but naturally only able to see the PVB stay on the DVC site. Do I have to do anything to link our first reservation to our DVC stay or is how it is currently in MDE fine? TIA!

As long as both room reservations appear in MDE, there's nothing else that can be done in regards to linking.

I don't think a cash reservation would show up on the DVC side, would it?(not a DVC member yet). Linking in MDE is all you should need.

Thanks! I didn't think it should show up on the DVC side but since this is the first time we have done a DVC stay as owners I wasn't positive. They both come up on MDE so I'll stop worrying about it!

I wouldn't worry too much. we did a stay like that. I just let them know at the cash stay (POP in your case) when we checked in that we will be planning to move to a DVC resort later. In any case, unless you have a car or other arrangement, you will need to let them know anyhow so they can move your bags for you (which they will do and even bring them right to your DVC room for free - plus a nice tip of course)

Thanks! We have done a split stay before so thankfully I'm not too worried about that. We won't have a car so will be relying on Disney to move our stuff. In past years we have headed to the parks right after the handoff but this year since we have moving to a Deluxe from a Moderate and not the other way around we will be spending pretty much the entire day at the Poly patiently waiting by the pool for our room haha.

Linking a stay is what happens when someone has two DVC reservations that are either on different memberships or one is cash through DVC and one is points. It alerts them that it is the same travelers so they won’t have to switch rooms mid stay. Since your reservations are not the same room type or even resort, there is no linking. As long as you have both in MDE you are all set.

Oohh I didn't realize that! That is really good to know, thank you!
