Cash/DVC Split Stays

Curiosity question for those of you who've booked stays using both DVC points and cash reservations at the same accommodation (be it a DVC or a hotel.) Were you able to stay in the same room for your entire stay, or were you forced to move in the middle of your vacation?

I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't get the right search words in for it to come up with the answer.

You may have to move, but if the 2 are the same view and room type you most likely will stay in one place.
