Hi.

I want to add an extra vacation in February. Trying to decide renting points vs the current 35% off promotion vs cash discount for DVC rooms (and Disney Visa).

I want a one bedroom at OKW if that makes a difference. Can anyone please tell me what the cash discount is with DVC discount and is it more than the 35% promotion that is running? I will call tomorrow but thought someone here may know.

I am going with my mom while my dh golfs with friends in Myrtle Beach and she also has a Disney Visa. She will call tomorrow to find out their promotion and if better than 35%.

Just trying to decide what makes most sense but would also like to save money since this trip wasnt in the works, it was just now talked about and being planned.

With the one bedroom discount, and the proce people are asking for points right now, it doesnt save me too much money and Davids is asking $20 per point, which makes my renting from them more than through Disney 🥴

Has anyone booked recently that went through all of the above?

Thank you.

You can check the visa discount online. Some of the rates were 50% off rack rates. That will probably be the best deal.

Thank you both. I called DVC today and their rates were higher than the current 35% off promotion. Called Disney Visa and their rates were same as Disney promotion, nothing 50%, just the 35%.

I think for the first part of our stay, I may go to Swan and be able to walk to MGM and Epcot. Then move to OKW one bedroom or MK resort, studio.
I like the fact that I can cancel up to a few days before with wverything going on right now.

Thanks.

The Disney visa discount was best by far for my family booking Saratoga but depends on resort, timing, and room type. I believe given point chart structure vs cash rack rate, for a 1 bed room the cash discounts would be competitive with point rentals through an agency or maybe even with prices for rentals on the boards here.

Specifically for OKW, from quick review it appears the best discount would be annual pass (not certain of details as I don’t have annual pass) or the general discount up to 35%. I quickly checked the Disney visa discount site and do not see OKW availability in February for this promotion so may not be as good for your stay as was for my family with Saratoga. This discount seems to be best for Contemporary, Coronado, Grand Floridian, Saratoga, and Riviera so may be some options to consider if you are flexible beyond old key west.

Edit: some numbers I crunched for early February looks like Saratoga and riviera 45% off and BLT 35% off through visa to give you idea of chase visa discounts (vs ~32% for general discount since 35% weekdays and 25% weekend)

Wow, I've had the Disney Visa for years and had no idea there was a discount rate for members. Thanks for sharing! :worship:

The Disney Visa discount is a current promotional rate, not a constant, and not related to DVC ownership. DVC members can get a 25% discount off of rack rates for cash reservations at DVC resorts booked through Member Services if available - the key is that they're not always available.
