Our first trip to Disney is going to be the first full week in Oct! What is the best way to handle purchases, meals, snacks ect as far as payment goes? I like the idea of a credit card but I am not sure if the snack type of stands (ice cream, water, etc) accept credit cards.

Hiya

I personally use travelers cheques and via for larger ones (as visa has buyer protection in case anything gets broken)

Pretty much all places take credit cards. Do you really think Disney will miss the opportunity for a buck. But I will always carry cash or TC to cash out. I always take more cash with me, I'd just rather not rack up the charges personally...it keeps me in check when I see the cash flow dwindling..but the CC is always there ready for action :teeth:

We believe in using our credit card everywhere we possibly can to maximize reward points (we use VISAs from Marriott and AOL). Why pay cash and get nothing for it when you can use your CC and get something in return?

There are a handful of places at Disney where you will need cash so be sure to have some on hand, but otherwise a credit card will be all you need.

If you staying onsite just use your preferred cc'd at the front desk and your room key will give you charging privlidges in all the WDW parks. All the shops/restaurants and even many kiosks will take a cc'd or debit card as well as TC's and, of course, cash! Be sure to have a moderate amount of cash on hand for ice cream/water/soda/etc as some of the carts/kiosks don't take cc'ds.

Generally speaking I take 2 cc'ds - one to leave the # at the front desk and charge with my room key, one for just in case to be locked up in the safe and my bank card for quick cash at the atm, located at every resort and also within every park. Personally I don't use travelers checks as imho they are difficult to obtain and cash so I just hit the ATM a few times each trip and deal with any service charges.

I always use AE travelers checks. It cuts down on my temptation to spend, they are accepted everywhere in WDW and if you lose them...replacement is easy.

As someone who works in hotels, anything but a credit card is absolutely loathsome. Credit cards make things so much easier for both the guest and the people who work in the businesses. The guest only has to wait a second while the credit card goes through and the workers can MUCH more easily balance their tills and make lines run faster.

I use my room key or a credit card, but you need some cash for food carts, arcade tokens, etc.
