I am researching CA for our first-time visit. While reading the description of the Redwood Creek Challenge, I thought it sounded sort of Tom Sawyer Island-esque, a place where kids can run around and do different things. Then I noticed that there is a 42" height req.

What is in the RCC? Why the height req? Can smaller kids go in at all?

Thanks for the tips!

I know the zip-line thing and maybe the climbing wall have height requirements, but I don't think the rest of the place does. I've seen little kids there.

The PP is right, I think the height requirement just applies to those two things. My kids LOVE Redwood Creek- they just spent an hour there on Wednesday. I know my ds couldn't have been 42 inches when he first started playing in there for sure. I don't think anyone has ever asked his height. We play a lot with them in there as well. It's fun!! There are lots of climbing nets and rope bridges to run across, tunnels, slides, hidden little rock rooms. The upper part is probably 2 stories tall or so, I would guess. There's always little kids at the Brother Bear show which is in there as well. That's a good one too for little kids. Redwood Creek has always been a favorite place for the kids to play (and for me to either join in or sit in the shade!) especially mid-afternoon when the kids need a break from lines/rides/lines/rides.

Thanks eduk8r and SLP, it looks and sounds like a fun place! Can't wait to go!

Does anyone know why it doesn't open when the park opens? When we were there, it opened at 10:30am when the park opened at 10am.

When I was there a couple of weeks ago I thought the height requirement was actually a "You must be shorter then this" to ride. I remember being disapointed that I couldn't go on it. There weren't any other height requirements that I saw in there.

The zip line has a 42" inch requirement, and also a maximum height as well. I can't recall off the top of my head, but I can say it's less than 5'4", because I was sure bummed when I found out I couldn't do it. :rotfl: As for everywhere else, no requirement, but I can't imagine little feet haven't gotten stuck in the net bridges cause again, I know I have. :guilty:

I didn't even realise there was a play area in DCA - thanks for the information! :thumbsup2

DD6 always likes to run around like a wild thing at the play areas in DHS and AK when we're at WDW, so I'm sure she'll want to visit this one as it sounds great. :hippie:

There's a height requirement for the tunnel slides.

Seriously.

I just don't think they want people chucking their infants down the things.
