I never even thought about it, but when we go to Disney we were planning to use Disney transportation the entire time. What i never considered is that we will have an 18 mo old and a 5 month old.

Obviously our 17 month old will not be in a carrier. ( she was actually 20 pounds at 5 months..and we switched her to a rear facing convertible then. ) I am guessing, that since this is #5 , I'll have another 9-10 pounder. So odds are my newest will be growing out of the carrier.

Would I still be able to use the buses ? I could put the youngest in the carrier, but then what do i do with it when I get in the park? I planned to use my double jogger and I can't plop the car seat in it. Will I have to drive to everything?

Carrier meaning "baby bucket" carseat? We could only use that thing for under 3 months b/c DS grew by height out of it by then, so we went to a Britax convertible. We also found the bucket to be so HEAVY and spinally unhealthy that each of us carried it one time only, and left that thing in the car ever after that.

We "wore" DS most of the time. Didn't even own a stroller until he turned 2. Mei tais (traditional Chinese baby "sling"), slings from places like hotslings and mammasmilk slings, selendang (Indonesian baby wearing), Moby wrap (wouldn't wear that at WDW though, too hot), and some others, culminating in the ERGO. Ah, the Ergo. Lovely.

Anyway, even if you don't want to wear the baby, I'd just hold the baby on the bus (you'd have to hold baby+bucket-carrier, yes?) and pop her into the double jogging stroller when off the bus.

There is no way to hook up a carseat on the busses, so everyone just carries the babies. Even if you brought the carseat, you would end up just holding it anyway, so my suggestion would be to just leave it at home. My ds was 7 months when we went and we just carried him on the busses and put him in the stroller. It seemed to work well for us.

Chances are you will be holding your children on your lap on the buses. boats and monorails. The 18month may be able to sit by herself on a seat next to a parent.

If you are bringing your own stroller then it might be helpful to have a sling-type baby bjorn carrier for the 5-month old. this way one parent can "wear" the infant and hold the 18 month by the hand while the other carries the stroller on board buses.

Good Luck

I guess because the kids are always in car seats it seems so foreign to even consider taking them on a moving vehicle without the car seat! I keep thinking omg that is so unsafe. Weird to think that when I was a baby my mom just held me in her lap. When i was older I remember standing on the "hump" in the backseat :)

Oh, I know!!!! I remember sitting on the floor behind the driver or passenger seats and playing games with my sister on that hump! For whatever reason it was just more fun than sitting in the actual seat! :rotfl2:
