Carrie Fisher suffers major heart attack and has passed

Is anyone else bothered that the Disney Blog has now posted 5 articles since her death was announced and none of them are about the death of one of the stars of a franchise they now own?

Yes...but it's expected. The disney blog is stupidity meant to do nothing but sell stuff...like candy on the playground.

Maybe if she had passed at the bibbidy Bobbity boutique while getting ready for "exclusive fireworks viewing"...it would have gotten a mention?

One of my daughter's friends died of cancer in May a few months before her 13th birthday. Her dad posted a photo of her dressed as Princess Leia last Halloween. I try to comfort myself thinking about the conversations these two fighters could be having right now, but it's just too sad at the moment. 2016 has just been a brutal year.

Very sad. The world lost a feisty, wise, funny role model today. And there are too few of those. :(

I

On another, more worldly, note: variety has scoured their contacts around Hollywood and learned that fisher's part in 8 is complete...but she was also planned to be in 9...so there's that to think about in fandom
As time goes on.

Obviously her passing will change what Leia's arc would have been. I hope that at some point, when it's no longer a spoiler, they come out and say what it was intended to be. It would at least be nice to know.

Carrie had nothing to do with the parks. The blog is all about the theme parks. I don't expect them to post anything there. Bob Iger and Kathleen Kennedy both released statements with condolences.

The Star Wars Facebook page released a beautiful tribute to Carrie yesterday. It made me cry all over again. Sorry, I don't have the link. Technology challenged.

She could still appear in the film as a digital image, just like a major character was brought back to life in Rouge One. Don't know if Disney/LucasFilm would take this route and/or if her family would approve it.

Here's an interview Carrie did on Good Morning America just prior to the release of episode VII. It's absolutely hysterical! Thought it might "lighten everyone's load" whose been affected by her passing.

I saw this interview live and I remember laughing hysterically. My god, she was funny. Perfect timing. I laughed through that interview all over again this morning.

I hate that we won't get to hear her thoughts on what it's like to be 70s 80s etc. Gone way too soon.

I always thought that Fisher's Leia set the stage for the modern female action hero. IMO, she set the stage for character's like Sigourney Weaver's Ripley.

No doubt...she was an archetype with that character...a "damsel that didn't need to be saved"

No question that character is going to be reflected on/appreciated now more than ever...for decades to come

I've seen this mentioned repeatedly since Friday...

Perhaps, but there's a limit to what they can do digitally in this manner at this point. And I think perhaps this is too ambitious. Unless it's for a brief cameo...I can't see it working and therefore is a detriment.

I'm worried that they have filmed 8 into a position where Leia is gonna have 15-30 minutes of screen time in episode 9 and there's gonna be a disconnect that ruins the whole thing...

Like they say "oh yeah...she died" and spin somekind of replacement into the arc. Please don't call Hayden Christiansen...;)

I wish they'd pulled a Peter Jackson and filmed all three movies simultaneously like he did with LOTR. I'm sure everyone will tell me that would never have worked, but I can still wish. I feel so upset because I feel like we'll never have closure with Leia. It'll now be an ending that was never intended. That makes me crazy.

It's being reported that Debbie Reynolds has been transported to the hospital for a possible stroke. Can it get any worse?
