We can't decide whether to go to Carribean or POR? We stayed at POR last time we went, three years ago and loved it. We thought we might want to try something different this time. We are going in August. We considered Coronado Springs, but were turned off by the whole food court situation, with them adding 10% gratuity to your bill each time you go there.
We are going to be a big group going? Will need several rooms to be sort of close to each other.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for any info!

I am biased having fallen in love with POR the first time I saw it. It has a wondeful food court, a great restaurant, a lounge and great ambience. The rooms(mansion rooms are my favorite) are great. I would recommend getting connecting rooms, or not if your family is like mine (LOUD!and spanish speaking) I would recommend the mansions because of the landscaping and I think you get more value for your money with the rooms. The pool at Ol' man island is very big so you don't have to worry about overcrowding. I stayed at the CBR a while back but didn't like it too much but it's probably because the decor is too close to some Miami apartments and condos. No matter what you choose have a great time.

I also vote for POR! We have stayed there several times and we just love it! I have never stayed at CBR, it just never appealed to me, the bright colors seem garish....many people love it though, I suppose it's personal preference.
Have you considered POFQ? It is also a nice resort, more compact than POR or CBR. The theming is very pretty, but I stll prefer the lush landscaping of POR!
Enjoy your trip!

My choice would be CBR. We have stayed at both, and either one would be a great choice, but CBR is just a little bit more colorful - when I think of going back and staying at a moderate just to stay there, CBR always wins for me.

There are some things that would sway me more or less in one direction or another. For instance, if any in your group had never been to Disney, or was/is a little doubtful as to if Disney is worth it, I would choose stronger for CBR - it's just a little better themed (in my opinion) than POR. However, if you have someone who needs a room closer to everything for one reason or another, then POR might be the choice to make. Enjoy your trip.

Stayed at both CBR (4 times) and POR (Dixie Landing) (20+ times) {CS 1 time}. As you can tell, POR/dixie landing forever, gets my vote between the 2. But I also agree, maybe you might be interested in PO French Quarters, which is reopening in March. The rooms are newly renovated with LARGER new TVs, new carpet, paint, bedding, newly tiled bath area floors, hairdryers, iron & ironing board and a new installed privacy curtain separating the vanity area from the bedroom area. FQ sounds like a winner. The only negative thing I can say about FQ is that it is the only moderate that does not have a sit down restraurant (I'm still missing bonfamilles--closed). However, you can go to Dixie/Riverside and eat at Boatwright's Dining hall.

I vote for CBR. I went over there today to take more pictures to post on my website.

It is very beautiful and you feel like you have escaped to the islands.

I will have the new pictures posted by tomorrow on my website listed below.

we stayed at POR last time too (dixie landing then)...we also loved it, but were looking for something a little different

we opted POFQ

We had always stayed at the Poly, except for one ill-planned late night check-in at the All Stars before moving to the Poly. Then, last summer my daughter and I took advantage of the Fairytale Package rates and made a second trip back to WDW in a month. We chose to stay at a moderate because we were already being far too extravagant. We picked the CBR and were delighted by the ambience. The room was pleasant, the pool cute, the food court fine, and the sit down restaurant quite nice. They had a better gift shop than the Poly. The beaches were lovely. The only problem was waiting for the buses to get anywhere. Safetymom has a great site to help you decide wjether CBR is for you. We had a great time.

To me, it is a personal decision as to what kind of themeing you're looking for. We just got back from POR and loved it. It is a really pretty resort and the boat to Downtown Disney is a nice perk. However, I love the theming at CBR. It definitely makes you feel as if you have escaped to the islands. It has a much more tropical feel. Where POR has beautiful manicured lawns, CBR has white sand beaches. It's really up to you.

We stayed at CBR for our honeymoon back in 1990 so I'm sure there have been some changes since then (probably for the better) but we absolutely loved it.

Last couple times we stayed at POR and loved that too.

We've booked again in May and we're going back to CBR~this time with our 3 kids. I wanted a change and I wanted a more tropical feel like when I was there for my honeymoon.

I think they are equally wonderful, it's a matter of the theming you want.
