Hello,
We are planning to take a horse drawn carriage ride on our next trip to WDW. Would anyone know if it is better to do this at the Wilderness Lodge or Port Orleans? We will be at both hotels so there isn’t a logistical issue for us, just recommendations on the views and/or enjoyment levels of each. Also would these require pre-booking for mid to late August? And if so, how far in advance would be needed. This is something I really wasn’t even aware of existing until a few months ago so I appreciate everyone bearing with the multiple questions.

I want to try the POR carriage. The scenery is so beautiful! I've done the hayride at Fort Wilderness and they took us to a spot across the lake so we could see Wishes (maybe it was HalloWishes since it was October). Check with WL and see if that is part of their ride. It was beautiful!

Have not went in August but I am sure they are both great. DH (who has went for years) says FW better at Christmas though for anyone interested as all of the RVs are decorated with decorations, etc.

I thought the carriage rides were at Fort Wilderness, not Wilderness Lodge. They are two different resorts.

We did it at the campground around christmas time....was really neat seeing all the campers with christmas lights on them likeeoples houses.

Deb & Bill is correct. The rides are not at Wilderness Lodge, they are at Ft. wilderness campground. Sounds fun though!

We just did the POR carriage ride over Spring Break and it was lovely. Just a nice slow ride on a beautiful night. There were two different routes and we could pick which one we wanted. We choose to go from Riverside to The French Quarter and back. We have never been to these resorts and now see why so many here like the French Quarter. Our guide talked about lots of changes that were coming to the WDW resort most of which I had already heard about here but, if I didn't know that I would have been thrilled to hear what he said. I made my reservation about two months ahead of time and by choice got the last ressie of the night. They seemed to be booked as both carriages pulled up at roughly the same time and two families got off and our family got on and a couple got on the other carriage. In our opinion, one the best Disney values for the money. :cloud9:

We did the carriage ride from Pioneer Hall in 2002 and from POR in 2012. Both were nice. The one at Ft. wilderness takes you on a pathway through woods (it did when we did it.) When we did it at POR we opted to go a long the water and over to French Quarter and back.
