For those of you that have taken carriage rides at PO, do you recommend any particular time of day? Also, I'm assuming it is appropriate to tip the driver? Hoping my husb and I will be able to do this in a few days...we've planned an impromtu trip... just the 2 of us! :)

We did this last May and called that morning and scheduled a ride for 6 pm. This was a perfect time to go! We had dinner reservations at 8 pm at the Cali Grill which gave us just enough time. Our driver was Kelly and he was great, he answered questions when we asked but wasn't constantly talking to us either. We really enjoyed seeing the resort from the carriage and everyone that we passed waved and smiled to us. We are going back this May and my bf and I both agree that this is a definite must do!

As far as tipping the driver we gave him a 20% tip.

It's $30 for a 30 minute ride. We just reserved it for our trip in May! :cool1:

I was wondering this as well, I'm thinking of doing this the night we arrive for our honeymoon in May, especially since we get in at 4pm and the day is pretty much done by then. Thanks for the info!!

What's the phone # to call for planning/reservations? Also, I've heard you may bring your own basket/champagne, true? Does the carriage take the route of the path along the river? (Could you explain the course, if possible?). Thank you, in advance. I have been curious and interested in this feature since first hearing about it last year. ;) I would love to surprise my DH with an evening ride. One of our best memories includes a carriage ride through central park (NYC). Nothing (IMHO) is more romantic...unless perhaps a sleigh ride through the Winter snow on the Cape or the rolling moonlit hills of VT. We have done this as well...and the sounds of the bells softly ringing to the gait of the thoroughbred still ring in my ears! :goodvibes

Tiggergirl31, thanks for your thoughts. I definitely want to schedule a carriage ride in this trip.

Motbobi, you don't have to be staying at PO to take the carriage rides.

Hi,
The # to call to make ressies is 407-WDW-PLAY. I'm not sure of the path they take. We'll be going in May. I booked 90 days ahead of my scheduled date. I was told we can bring food and/or drinks. You don't have to be staying at POR to take the carriage ride.

Subbing for future reference :) I can't wait to do this :)
