Carpe Diem: Our quick trip to the World. Pre trippie...10/22-10/27

This is my first Pre-Trip report so bear with me.... (I got it!!! I figured out the title... finally.)

The Cast:

Me: Angela... will be celebrating my B-day (isn’t everyone celebrating something?) at WDW... **cough** 39 **cough**. I LOVE DISNEY... If I could be a cast member...I would be - in a heartbeat!

DS: Jon...an 11yo who loves rides, and the last time he went to WDW with me, he couldn’t go on the “good” ones... needless to say, it was NOT an enjoyable trip, except for the Mustang convertible rental....LOL!

DD and I went to WDW for Christmas last year, and DH took DS to Utah to ski for THREE WEEKS... (we won’t talk about that though...) We had a great time... went to MVMCP, had a great time at the parks... but stayed off site, I don’t think I’ll ever do that again.

Fast forward to August 12th, 2008... While sitting on Rye Beach, in NH...

DH said to me “Why don’t you take Jon to WDW to go on the rides?”

Me: “HUH???” **looking at DH like he’s just lost his mind**

DH: “Look into going to WDW with Jon, maybe for a long weekend in Oct. Don’t the kids have a couple days off toward the middle of Oct???”

Me: “Excuse me? Did I hear you correctly? I can take Jon on a trip to FLORIDA??? In October??? The place where it’s WARM? And go visit MICKEY at his HOUSE????” **silently doing the happy dance... you know that one.... **

DH: “Sure... it’ll be fun for him to go on the rides with you.”

Me: ***thinking “okay, what are you planning? There’s a catch here somewhere...”***
so I said “Where are you going this winter? Are you taking Cait somewhere to ski?“ **keeping in mind that my DH is an obsessive SKIER...LOL! go figure. **

***AHA!!!! Hit the nail on the head here!!!***

DH: “Cait and I are gonna go to Utah for a week, I’ll take her out of school in Feb.”

Me: “Hum.....sounds like a plan.... Hey Jon......”

A little more background about me.... because it’s important, and inquiring minds need to know...LOL!

I LOVE TO TRAVEL.... any time I can get the heck away from home, be it with one of the kids or by myself... I’m outta here! I figure that winters in Vermont are so LOOOOOONNNNNG and COLD, if I have a chance to go somewhere warm (that’s the theme to my trips, btw.) I’ll be gone! So when DH mentioned me and DS and FLORIDA... you don’t have to tell me twice... THANK YOU!!!!

So, on the 13th of August, when we returned from the ocean (not so warm ocean, I might add), I put a call in to my TA, Laura.

The ORIGINAL plan (which has been modified many times) was the following:
Oct 22-27th
5 nights at POR (you'll notice in the title of the thread...changes were made!)
4 day PH
Dining plan

Leaving at 6pm on the 22nd of Oct. from Burlington VT arriving MCO at 11:37pm. Taking the ME to POR... checking in and going to bed to get up for an early ADR on the 23rd.

Laura got me all of the itinerary, and I checked what the cost would be to stay offsite, get a rental car, pay for parking, and pay OOP for ALL MEALS. I didn’t include airline tickets in the total because we had to pay for them separately, because I wanted to leave at a specific time, out of the closest airport. Disney couldn’t include the tickets into the cost. Oh well...

So...I presented all of the info that Laura had come up with, and the info I had come up with to DH, and he handed over his CC like a good man, and said, put the deposit down, and get the airplane tickets. Again... you don’t have to tell me twice... Hey, Laura..... LOL!

**insert “Happy Birthday” song here** LOL!

Original ADR’s made by Laura... keeping in mind that I was planning on paying OOP for the additional ADR’s.

23 (Thurs) – The Crystal Palace DINNER
24 (Friday) – O’Hana BREAKFAST
Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre DINNER
25 (Saturday) – Whispering Canyon BREAKFAST
50’s Prime Time Café DINNER
26 (Sunday) – Tusker House BREAKFAST
Teppen Edo Japanese Steak House DINNER
27 (Monday) – Boatwright’s Dining Hall BREAKFAST

YAY!!! A reader... I really don't like to talk to myself... makes people look at me wierd! LOL! Thanks for joining in! My DH would rather go skiing than go anywhere warm. I just don't understand him??? Other than 2 trips we took to St. Lucia by ourselves, I haven't gotten him to Florida (yet.)

Now that you've joined, I feel better to post another update...LOL! Why do the mothers have to be the "obsessed planners"? LOL!

(Ahem...I just can’t leave well enough alone, being the obsessive planner that I am... they thank me for pre-planning in the end, always.)

So about this time, I discovered DIS!!!!! YAY DIS!!!!! (And the resort and restaurant reviews... I’ve since stopped the addiction to change my dining res.... LOL! )

Did you know that too much information can make a person STUPID??? Not in their right mind??? WELL, let me tell you..........

I read the boards here, top to bottom, left to right, any info I could get on POR... and guess what, I changed my resort... silly me. Looking back now, I shouldn’t have done that, but it’s done, and we are going to have a GREAT time at the Wilderness Lodge!

YAY Wilderness Lodge!!!!! (ouch, my credit card’s hemorrhaging....)

Oh, did I forget to tell you... we upgraded our park tickets from 4 day PH to 5 day PH... for a whopping $6.74. Amazing huh? A feat to amaze the minds.. LOL!

I’m not going to tell you, cuz I know you’ll think I’ve lost my mind.... “That woman has gone nuts... she’s crazy.... what is she thinking????” Well, I can tell you what’s thinking... my stomach. I’ve changed my ADR’s about 20 times! (Oh, they know me by name at the dining res #... ***j/k... not really, but they do say “WOW! You cancelled a lot!”**) Well, I’m fickle, what can I say... the food porn thread surely has me by my gastronomical neck....LOL!!!! (MMMMM!!! Bring it on!)

OH... another thing...I almost forgot... silly me... So now you all know that I am a planner, who constantly changes and re-changes the plans... Here’s a change, not as big as the home resort one, but **Hey, do I see more food pics. added to the food porn thread??? Mmmmmm!**

Sorry, easily distracted... Where was I...Oh, yeah. I upgraded DS and I to the DELUXE dining plan... am I sorry I did? Well, we’ll see if I can button my jeans when I get home... aaaahhhh, can anyone say no eating for a week before we go to WDW??? LOL! Do I think that DS will eat nearly enough food to make the DxDP worth it? I don’t know... I just don’t know... DS isn’t a huge eater, but when he puts his mind to it, he can fill a leg...LOL! You probably can’t tell by the pic, but DS is very slim. (Mostly because of his meds.)

This may be the first and last for the deluxe dining plan for me...

Well, since I see the "Views" increasing, I know I'm not talking to myself...so here's another chapter in my pre-trip report...

If you recall from when we were getting to know each other, you may remember me mentioning that DD and I went to MVMCP in Dec..... well, I couldn’t get through this trip without taking DS to MNSSHP. So... I got the tickets.... We’re going on the 23rd... (anyone else???) LOL! Oh, I have some ideas for goodies and so on..... that’ll be later on.

Okay, I’ve spoken with Marina, Amber, Daphne, Marilyn, and several other women over there at the Disney Dining Reservations.... LOL! Thank goodness I have a “call around” plan with my phone company...LOL!

So, here are the ADR’s, keeping in mind I’m going to be ROLLING onto the plane on the 27th! LOL!

Wed-22nd:
Tusker House: late lunch 2:15p (I don't think we will make this one, it appears to be too close to arrival time, so I may have to cancel it If we do, we'll just grab something quick somewhere on the way to Epcot)
Le Cellier: late dinner 8:25p(oh, I have stories on how I obtained this one....SHHHH it’s a secret!)
Thur-23rd:
Cape May Café: Breakfast
Crystal Palace: Lunch (I'm not sure we're going to this one either... I think we'll still be stuffed from breakfast )
Lib. Tree Tavern: Dinner 6:50p (anyone from DIS gonna be here? I have a surprise! Shhhh another secret! )
Fri-24th:
Kona: Breakfast
Teppen Edo: Lunch
Cape May Café: Dinner (This one may be cancelled. I’m thinking of trying to go to Mexico for dinner and stay at Epcot for the night.)
Sat-25th:
Donald @ Tusker: Breakfast
Lunch somewhere at AK, Maybe Flame Tree?
GFC: Dinner . (Oh cake, glorious cake)
Sun-26th:
Boma: Breakfast
Mama Melrose: Lunch (Mmmmm Calamari!)
Dinner somewhere...maybe DTD, or maybe we go to MNSSHP another night, and grab something at Cosmic Ray's.
Mon-27th:
O’Hana: Breakfast
WCC: Lunch (We may not make it to this one either, we may have to leave for the airport earlier than I thought... )

That’s a lot of meals, huh? I have a bad, bad feeling about this. My son is a somewhat light eater usually, but when we go somewhere, he pigs out! The things I'm worried about with my schedule would be the breakfasts, and Jon's appetite. This might be the worse thing for us, but then again, we may be pleasantly surprised. I'll know in a few weeks if it'll work Hopefully it won't be what I'm expecting. I’m looking forward to all of the meals and character interactions I've planned! We’ll see....
