Yes, I know this board is for Disney cruises but I wanted to let all you military folks know that Carnival has military discounts. Deep discounts. I booked a four night cruise out of New Orleans for my daughter and myself. $215 pp. Guaranteed inside. Total with tax was $445 for both. The guaranteed outside was only $249 pp. I have never cruised for so little. I usually cruise on Royal Carribbean but DD is 16 and wanted to go on Carnival. You have to call 1-800-carnival and ask for the discount. This was booked just two weeks in advance of the cruise. Just wanted to share this with all my military friends.

Thanks R Judy!

Thank-you so much !!!! I love DCL but I am also very cheap, and I adore a good deal. I'll be calling later today and checking this out.

I called them to find out about a feb 2005 cruise out of florida, (we wanted one to coincide with the Daytona 500, but DCL valentines sailing is too much $) Well they quoted me about $2400 for a 7 day with a balcony this is for 2 adults and and a child. They said it was almost half off with the military discount, that it would have been like $4500. I dont think so, that is more than DCL. This seemed pretty fishy to me, I didn't think Carnival was so expensive and it was almost 18 monthes away when I called.

makaylee, did they mean it would be 1/2 off of the price they quoted you with the discount? What ship and what category?
For a quote like that this far out, it would have had to been a newer ship and a suite or an alaskan cruise.

You can also book the Military Discounts on Carnival on cruise.com. I looked at the MDs for Feb 05 and the average balcony starts at 750 a person...check out the rates on line.

Hi-

My DH can't go again this year bc of deployment but CCL let's a spouse book cabin without the spouse which is a great thing considering he is gone and we are sad and need a diversion. I was waiting to see if DCL extended their military discount but they have not so we have booked a Carnival Cruise too and the rate is so low it is disgusting :p I guess we all have earned it I just want my DH to get home in time to get a vacation too

Sorry I cant remember the name of the ship but it is the new one that I believe is coming out in June or July. The price WITH military discount would be about $2400. Not sure what the catagory was called but it had a balcony, it wasnt a special suite or anything just a regular balcony room. That is the same price we are paying for a Disney sph room. I decided to stick with DCL. My husband made me laugh, He wasnt too thrilled about trying DCL for our first cruise and when I suggested we should look at doing RCCL or Carnival the second time around so we could go to the Daytona 500 he said the race was not that important, dd had a lot of fun on DCL, lets stick with that till shes older. Keep in mind we are huge Nascar fans. I thought it was pretty funny. He turned down a trip to the superbowl of Nascar so we could do Disney instead of another cruiseline like he had suggested on our first cruise. I ask you now, Who had a good time?

Well, after reading your replys I decided to call Carnival again and the first person must have been blowing smoke up my behind (sorry) So this is what I came up with this time, I think it might be the same saling but Im not positive: A Feb 13 2005 sailing on the Valor(new ship that comes out in dec) in a cat 8A balcony for 3 would be $2,284 WITH the discount, not including insurance or transfers. He said that it would be $2,684 without the discount. Now the $2,684 is way cheaper than I was quoted the first time, maybe he was adding an early booking discount in the savings, I dont know, but I swear this is what he told me the first time....I promiss, im not nuts! :D I'll still stick with DCL at least till my dd is a teen, who knows we'll still probably all want the mouse! Mickey Rocks!!!!

It's probably because it's the Valor. Brand new ship and all that, they're probably not giving any early discounts because they know it'll be snapped up quick because it's new.
Sorry you couldn't make it work for the Daytona.:(

You can also check a very popular cruise online company that in part sponsors cruisecritic.com or at least their ad's pop up all of the time while on cruisecritic.com. It allows you plug in the sailing you want and click the military box after selecting Carnival and also enter a zipcode, this year and last year when we sailed Carnival we got military discounts and resident discounts (NC).......good luck. Anyone know if DCL has extended their military discounts? We used them for sailing on DCL the past 2 Octobers and it makes the rate great. I think it is a great program to thank our military and families for our on going deploymentss:(

DCL has not extended their Military discounts as of yet. I am keeping my fingers crossed! We used it last May and it was wonderful!

Buzz&Woody'sMom,
Which cruise company offers the military discount box to check. I looked but I could not find it. Thanks

You go to cruise.com and enter Carnival, then to the very left margin you will see a box you can check for military and then also enter your zip code to see if your state of area is having a regional discount bc CCL lets you use both..........if all else fells I have a good TA there I used this year and last year for a 7 day if you PM I will give your here details......good luck!
