Rehearsal Dinner!!!
Whispering Canyon Cafe @ the Wilderness Lodge
August 6th, 2008; 5:00 p.m.
All in all I think this was one of the best decisions we made for the wedding. I had never met DH's mom,or grandmother, neither had my parents.. our parent's had never met. So needless to say, I expected this to be a little tense.
My FIL agreed to pay for our dinner.. so we started talking about options.. at first we were going to go with Cape May, then Ohana's...but he didn't like any of there menus.. so as soon as he saw BBQ, he agreed!
At first, I was a little worried..because I know this restaraunt and I thought it would be really inappropriate, but with the group of people I had...it was absolutely perfect!
Right after the got there.. the waiter went directly to picking on us..but she was really good about it. She pretended as though she was mad at me for no making DH a "Groom" sash, since all the girls had one.. Well about 10 minutes later she comes back with a "Groom" sash made up of Mickey Stickers...and those huge handmade paper hats!
Here's my favorite picture from the night! A summary of the Whispering Canyon...NEVER order ketchup!
We knew better than to order it..but the other table decided to order it for us... there was so much ketchup...eventually we also payed them back!
The food was good..and the service was even better! With so much going on..it was the best way for us to unwind and enjoy the company without being so fancy! It really felt like everyone had a great time.. even our minister got along with Dh's groomsmen! And they are total opposites!
A little later into dinner.. our waiter calls us up to the front..at this point I just knew we were going to have to ride the stick pony.. and I paniced! We were standing at the front of the restaraunt and the waiter goes to yelling! She announced that we were getting married tomorrow, and the entire restaraunt cheered! It was pretty nice.. then she says that we have to practice our wedding kiss.
I thought "ok" not so bad...wrong! her countdown went like this..
10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,3,3,3,3...3,3..3,3,
It never ended until we finally just couldn't stop laughing..it was pretty funny!
So we headed back to our table to hand out our cupcakes...
About half way through I hear the Best man, Cliff, complaining about restaraunts that sing "Happy Birthday" all the time...
Well.. the waiter grabbed him.. and called him right to the front of the restaraunt! She started to announce that it was his birthday..which we thought was the big joke! Then, she hands him the stick pony and tells him he has to ride around the entire restaraunt... while singing "Happy Birthday To me" and if he wasn't loud enough.. she was going to send him into the lobby to sing for everyone!
Well before we knew it, Cliff took off running through tables not singing.. but SCREAMING "happy birthday to me" then runs out into the lobby (still screaming), makes a big circle, then comes running back in to our table.. the look on the people's faces who were sitting in the lobby was priceless!
I was laughing so hard I think I stopped breathing! It was hysterical!
After dinner we handed out our gifts to our wedding party..
I gave my mom a gift card, and a ressie to Victoria and Alberts for her and my dad.
I gave my sister a gift card and made her a ressie at Le Cellier.
I gave my bridesmaid a Mickey Chef hat ( she's a culinary student)
and I gave my "bridesman" a mickey shirt and a Disney gift card...
FIL was the funniest.. I gave him a Disney card as a thank you for our dinner... and I made him a shirt that said " I love my Daughter in Law" He laughed to hard!
I think he has worn that shirt every other day..it is too funny!
here's my mom when she prentended like she was surprised by her gift...stinkin V&A left a message on her phone the previous week!
then headed over to the GF for our rehearsal!
