The trip has come and gone, booked as soon as free dining was offered to the general public in April 2007.

5 kids ages 7-11, 9 adults

Flew Airtran to Orlando, Southwest back to Pittsburgh, PA, $120 R/T per person. 4 rooms @ the Caribean Beach Resort. Free Dining for All!
Magical Express~ wonderful experience, not one glitch!:cheer2:
Flights~ 98% on time without any airport mishaps/issues:banana:
Caribean Beach Resort~ We all stayed next to one another, grand gathering keeps you as close as possible. Our rooms were in Jamaica, 4101~4107, first floor. Jamaica was the first stop on the way back in the evenings, which was nice. Buses stopped at least every 20-30 minutes, never really had to wait long at all. Got on the first bus each time. Keep in mind, Animal kingdom bus stops at blizzard beach first, regardless if the park is open or not, which makes no sense, but oh well. Same on the way back from Animal Kingdom. Rooms looked new, clean and we had coffee pots/very cold mini fridges and double beds and mickey shampoo/conditioners and soap. They did supply coffee/creamer and sugar packets, but if you like coffee, bring your own. They supplied hot cups and glasses. We stopped at the store via taxi and stocked up on wine/beer/soda and milk and etc.........came in very handy since a 6-pack of beer from room service is $30, yes, $30. I had no issues with the room at all, very clean and housekeeping there were no issues at all. They say some rooms are dated and some are updated, ours must of been updated, my sister called ahead and requested the newest rooms.......Old Port Royale was where the main kids pool was with the eating places~ literally a 10minute walk. If your expecting a "hotel" this isnt the place for you, its a resort, meaning all the main building and services are not connected and you do have to walk to bus stops and etc.......if you are renting a car or driving, parking is a nice set up, you can park very near your villa and the walk is minimal.......the disney transportation was very good this trip, we only had to wait for a second bus once, the first night we arrived, other than that, we got on the first buses. Towels were abundant and nice and thick, beds were very comfortable, air conditioning was very cold! :thumbsup2
Free Dining Plan~ As you know, the dining plan is changing the first of the year, no more appetizer and gratuity is no longer included, servers are enraged, no more automatic 18%:hippie: :headache: :rolleyes1 We ate at the following, all 14 of us:
Whispering Canyon~ loud, fun for the kids, food was good (like BBQ), milkshakes were great, not a place for romance or quiet dinners for 2, but the kids loved it and we didn't mind, we knew ahead of time, our server was great
Coral Reef~ Very nice, everyone loved it, the kids were all seated directly in front of the aquarium, couldnt of asked for better seats, although, there are some seats that do not get good views, our kids were right up on the glass but you get what you can, we were lucky.
Captain Jacks~ Very good, seated right at the window overlooking the water, excellent food
Crystal Palace~ least favorite, very unorganized, kids liked it, buffet was only okay, but we survived, it was very very very loud and kids running everywhere......just beware.
Donalds Brontosauras~ kids liked it, buffet for breakfast was excellent, server was great

Hey Lisa! Thanks for your trip report!

Did you eat at the restaurants in the group of 14? If so, did you make ADR's for 14 or did they make you break it into smaller groups? Were you able to all sit together?

(I am asking b/c we are arriving in December with a group of 14 and have had a hard time working with group dining. I was very disappointed that NONE of the restaurants would make reservations for a table of 14 nor would they guarantee that we would even be sitting near each other!)

Thanks!!!

Thanks for reporting, glad you enjoyed your trip.

The first time I stayed on site we stayed at the CBR and I agree with your assessment. At the end of the day, it always seemed like a long walk to the room, Our room was the second bus stop. It is a very quiet setting though.

Of the character meals we had Crystal Palace is near the top, one of our favorites, but we were in the first seatings for breakfast.

Thanks for the report, it was very good, expecially since I am planning a family gathering in '09.
