We have booked our Disney holiday for 3 weeks in May of this year (07), we are staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort.
We preiviously stayed at Port Orleans F.Q and really had a brilliant time there, so much so i wanted to return there but the wife said we sample another resort to compare.
The only trouble i'm reading all these mixed reports on C.B.R, have we made the right choice :confused3
Any tips for the C.B.R would also be greatly appriciated

Many Thanks
Ziggybaby

I love to check out different resorts. I have stayed at CBR twice but that's only because I went with my sister and she wanted to stay there. Otherwise as much as I loved it I wanted to try CSR so we ended up going over there just to see it and have breakfast. Everyone is different so what one might like others might hate. Go with an open mind and enjoy it. Are you staying three weeks at Disney? You could always stay at two different resorts, maybe make a switch if you're really disappointed once you get there. Don't sweat the small stuff and have a great time!!

c.b.r. is nice, good feel,
not exactly for kids,
ie. plain pools, no silly decorations but
it was still nice.
my only other peeve was the transportation.
there are so many bus stops, that on the return in the evening
it has to stop at all those stops making for a long ride.
but, it probably seemed worse than it really was.

for the money C.B.R. is probably the best bang for your buck

is it too late to try for a split stay?

3 weeks, and your wife likes to try out new places,
i would think you could do at least 3 different places,
just a thought

I think switching resorts if you don't like it is a good idea or just book two different resorts and split your stay right from the beginning. This being said I have stayed at CBR twice and loved it. I would stay there again in a minute, although I am lik eyour wife, I do like to try different resorts!

Hiya Ziggybaby
we too are staying at CBR when we go in Oct, and like you are panicking a little after reading a lot of negative stuff.....but as previously mentioned...go with an open mind and if its not up to scratch you can move elsewhere...at least thats our plan anyway.
We stayed at AKL last year and want to try something a little different....and at the end of the day its only somewhere to rest our weary heads;)

Wow! 3 weeks! I'm jealous. CBR is a large resort but I love staying there. Some people do not like it because it is so spread out. Even though I know there is a lot of people there it just doesn't seem like it as crowded as say the value resorts. If you can stay in one of the preferred rooms your walk will be shorter to the food court. Have a Great Time. We are hoping to be there the end of May or first of June. We haven't booked our trip yet.

we stayed there for 17 nights in September 2006, and loved it loved loved it!!

We were in Jamaica block 1 minute walk to bus stop and 5 minute walk to
old port royale.

Each Island has thier own beach, pool with laundry, ice machine etc.

Our pool and beach was 15 second walk from our room, very relaxed.

You will really enjoy it. I felt that after several visits to All Star Movies I thought CBR wouldnt be "Disney" enough for me but I loved it!!

We love CBR...spent 9 days there last May & we would be returning this year BUT we joined DVC, so now we'll be staying at DVC resorts.

My DS8 & DD11 loved it last year.
An above poster mentioned "plain pools" but the main pool is anything but that. It is a lot of fun, although the slide was not that great. DS's favorite thing to do was play under the waterfall.

The place is beautiful & the gift-shop is great!
The kids & I spent a lot of time in there.

You will love CBR. Have a great vacation.

About some of the negative reviews.

If there is one thing you can expect once you get to WDW, it is that you can expect to do some walking.;)

We stayed at CBR for our Honeymoon. We have two places in the running for our Sept 07 stay, CBR or BWV.

What I remember liking most about the CBR was

1) The secluded feel of each island. After a busy day at the parks it's nice to be somewhere where you are not tripping over other guests.

2) The walk around Barefoot Bay. It was so nice after dinner, to take a stroll on the promenade. The sun down, a lite Florida evening breeze, soft calypso music playing, the dim lighting from the posts. It's truly beautiful.

Before going back to your room you can share a hammock on the beach and still hear the music.

Although I can respect the imagination put into places like the All Stars and Pop Century, I really don't enjoy that kind of design. I think the CBR is prefectly themed and is subtly carried out though out the whole resort.

And...................

Don't forget about the PIRATES

We stayed at CBR in Dec. '05. It was very nice and relaxing. The buses however do make somewhere around 7 stops so if you are the first stop in the morning or last stop of the evening you will be spending good quality time on the bus. Several times we got off at the first stop at night and walked to our room. Other than that it was great

HI I stayed there a week in july 2005. We stayed in the Matinque section. It was close to Old Port Royal and the pool. Though I found the bus waiting times a little long at the parks. It just seemed there were more busses for the other resorts. This has most likley changed. I had a great time there, and on my next trip I will stay there again. Have a great time.

Hi

We've stayed in several of the WDW resorts and for the first time this year we will also be staying in the CBR.

I'm of the opinion that if it's Disney, it will be at least very good !!

We have stayed at several resorts at Disney and so far CBR is our favorite. While we haven't stayed at POFQ, we have stayed at Port Orleans several times. While Port Orleans is beautiful, we found the Alligator Bayou rooms to be dark and somewhat dreary. CBR is bright and upbeat and reminds me more of a vacation. There is also much more storage space in the rooms at CBR. We stayed in the Jamaica area and loved it and our kids always ask when we are going back to Jamaica.

Also, if you are on the dining plan, if you have leftover counter service to use towards breakfast, their Breakfast Bounty platter is huge. We usually get 2 for our family of five and there is food leftover. Their breakfast food was much better than the food that we had at POR.

DD and I have stayed at CBR on three different occasions so obviously we really enjoy it. We have also stayed a POFQ twice. We are from Louisiana and like the theming of POFQ but love the island feel of CBR. While CBR is much larger we don't mind that. We have been in the preferred section but like Jamaica better, it is directly across the lake from the food court and just a short walk across the bridge. Have a wonderful trip!

We are also staying at the CBR the beginning of March! DBF and myself orginally picked that out of all of them but it was his parents that made the decision and they ended up picking the CBR! :) If you go to allears.net I think there were some reviews on there but listing the good and the bad of the resort and then people wrote a review also! I found it a great read!
