We are only going for 3 nights in February after 5 nights at US. It will be me, DH, and our 3 boys, age 10. We have a reservation now at CBR, but had to reserve 2 rooms for the first night in the pirate section and will move to a 5 person room for our last 2, with plans to use DME for our transport home. We have only ever stayed at the Polynesian and our boys love the monorail. This trip, though, we thought they would enjoy the Skyliner. After reading some reviews of the pirate room, I am nervous about how comfortable we will be, and even more nervous for 5 of us to be in a 5 person room at CBR. We found the Polynesian okay for 5, but CBR seems much smaller. We plan to spend most of our time at the parks and at SWGE, so does the size of the room really matter? Will having to stay in one room one night and having to switch be a huge deal?

For those who have stayed at CBR recently and stayed at BCR, YCR, or BWV, how does it compare with the other resorts?

If walking, or using the Friendship Boats to Epcot or Hollyweird don't matter, whittle down the other differences vs price. The walking paths, imo, are the biggest elephant in the room. Just my opinion. To me, that is a massive, massive elephant.

The walking paths at the other resorts (Beach Club, Yacht Club, etc.) or at Caribbean Beach?

CBR rooms are much smaller than the Polynesian rooms. I wouldn't be comfortable with 5 staying in one moderate room. But lots do, so....it's your call. It's only one night, but it is too crowded for me. The rooms at YC, BC and BWI are smaller than poly rooms also - but they are larger than CBR rooms. Many rooms at BC do not have a daybed, so I would tend to book BWI or YC in order to have a daybed for the fifth person.

The walkway/boats to DHS and Epcot are from the YC/BC and BWI. Buses and Skyliner from CBR. You can also take the Skyliner from near Epcot International Gateway to get to DHS from YC/BC and BWI.
My opinion: I give a slight edge to the BWI for transportation.

With only three nights total, I wouldn't want to move rooms. You have to pack/unpack and are 'homeless' from at least 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Just additional hassle that you don't need on a short stay.

If available, I would move to either the BWI or the YC, whichever theme or price suits you best.

Good luck!

It's annoying to have to move for such a short stay however it being so short would be a good reason to stay at a moderate because you'll be too busy to have much time in the room.

This is our initial thought—That we would be too busy in the park to care much about the room. We considered staying in the 2 rooms for the stay, but we don’t want to pay more without a guarantee we would be in connecting rooms.

You can walk to epcot and hollywood using the walking paths from bc/yc and bwi. You cant walk to ep or dhs from cbr.

How long is the walk from each resort? I’m assuming it’s closer from BWI? Also, has the Skyliner shutdown much? I’m guessing it could happen during our stay and so would hate to stay there and end up not enjoying the Skyliner experience. Of course, this could also happen at the monorail resorts and we didn’t let that stop us from staying at the Polynesian.

we recently stayed at BWI and we loved it. we have also stayed at BC and liked that as well. But we enjoyed the ability to walk into Epcot and HS from BWI (or BC) or to walk out and take the boat. The pools at both resorts are great too in case you want to enjoy some pool time. Even if you are out enjoying the parks, I think 5 in 1 room at CBR is going to feel cramped.

Thank you! This is helpful. We looked at the pictures of all the rooms and do think that any of those three resorts would be nice, and definitely nicer than CBR. We’re also considering staying in 2 rooms as the cost is the same as moving to the BWI, but I don’t feel comfortable doing that without a guarantee the rooms will be connecting.

We stayed for 7 nights in a 5 person room with our 5, 7 and 8 year old children at CBR earlier this year. It was no 1 bedroom suite but it was perfectly fine for the price I was able to get (146/night) and not uncomfortable to me. We don't spend a huge ton of time in our room... Just a midday nap now and then, and sleeping at night so I guess YMMV. I wouldn't personally pay more than 180/night for moderate rooms but I know prices have climbed since Skyliner opened.

Thank you for sharing your experience. On our first trip to Disney, we stayed at the Polynesian. We went in January during low season and we were able to get a reduced rate, which was still $378 a night. We told ourselves this was the only time we would go to Disney, so we’ll go all out. I’m not sure who we were kidding? Our whole family loved the vacation so much we returned in 2019. This time, the Polynesian was $457, again in January. For our trip this year, we were able to get our entire hotel stay at Universal on points, that includes our food. We were looking forward to a break from the expensive vacations we had taken before. We decided to add a few nights at Disney for SWGE, knowing we are now going during a busier, more expensive time. There is no way we want to pay the February price for the Polynesian, which is well over $600 a night. Plus, now that our triplets are 10, the dining plan is more costly. The Caribbean Beach is $286, which seems reasonable for what it offers. I’m certainly hoping we can manage 3 nights there.

It’s an easy walk from the Boardwalk to Hollywood studios to get the boarding group early the morning. We did it about 10 days ago. I don’t know how early the Skyliner starts up.
