OK the day Dougy had been dreading had arrived we were off to Typhoon Lagoon!!!. Last year we dodged the Water Parks totally as we done Busch Gardens, Discovery Cove etc but this year the kids (and Me!) were desperate to go. Our problem was in full 'Dougy' he cant swim and wont go pass his waist in water!!!. So after a long breakfast and him reading the paper for twice as long as normal I kindly reminded him in a soft reassuring voice that he couldnt put it off forever and then I turned away s******ing!! You are all probably think I am evil but after 12 years of having to take the boys swimming....everyday being in the pool holiday after holiday while he sat with a cool beer on a sun lounger this was a bit of a pay back. No problems with the bus (is there ever!!) and arrived ready to hit the slides!!. Got the map and noticed they had the refillable cups for sale. Is it just me or does anyone think thats a bit naughty??? I fully understand if you are not staying on at a Disney Hotel but personally I thought that you should be able to bring your hotel cups to refil. Did not make any differene to us as we bought bottles of water as that what it what the boys drink mainly so of we went to find some sun loungers. It was a beautiful day and had no problem finding a great spot to leave the towels/bags.....right infront of the huge wave machine!!. Now we had agreed Dougy was to come into the water when needed as with the boys being 12 & 6 they do have different swimming abilities and of course Tom wanted to be in the deep end and 'surf' the wave whilst Sam wanted to be able to touch the bottom. Dougys services were needed straight away!!. Tom and I were off to the deep end but I needed eyes at the back of my head as I was struggling to enjoy it and keep my attention on Tom knowing Dougy was further behind with Sam. That wave machine is the best thing ever!!. FANTASTIC
After a few 'surfs' I told Tom I was checking on Dad and found them enjoying themselves. I took Sam further out who loved every minute. After a while we decided to go on the Lazy River. Tom took the map and was shouting out slides etc as we went floating around. That was really relaxing and with the sun beating down I knew the tan was getting topped up (view was good aswell as some of the lifeguards were very scenic.....if you know what I mean
..infact we went round twice!
Left Dougy by the sunbeds and the 3 of us went onto the slides....had a brill time until we got to a slide that I just thought was another normal slide. It was not until when I was sat watching for the green light to go that the lifeguard said to me 'are you ready to drop 35mph??'... I just laughed and said 'if this slide did that do you really think I would be sitting here??' He looked at me and said smiling 'well it does....enjoy the ride, please go you are holding up the queue' I looked at him realised I couldnt get back up and silently screamed....Those seconds were the worse of my life....yes I know it was not Summit Plummit...but it was dark, fast and horrible!!. The boys were waiting at the bottom they knew they had got me up there on faulse information and basically lied to me....although they informed me they had stretched the truth!!
I needed a drink and went back to the sun beds with legs like jelly and could also see Dougys face in amusement so he knew what they had been up to aswell.!!
The rest of the day we sunbathed, swam and enjoyed the day. It went really fast!!.
On the way home we were trying to think about what to do in the evening and decided to go over to Epcot and have a Mexican meal in Mexico. We decided to go straight there after we got ready. Unfortuantly we were really disapointed with the meal. There was no waiting time but the food was very limited and in parts undercooked and not what I would expect from a Mexican. We do eat alot of Mexican food and maybe its cooked differently but it was a shame. The service was not great either....first meal at Disney ever that we were disappointed in. We were going to stay at Epcot but the boys wanted to go back to CBR as they knew their friends would be there. They had bought Star War sword things from MGM a few days before and their friends were getting them today so the outside area became a ring for a Star Wars battle tournament!!. We watched from the bar sitting with Shirley and Bill (our new American friends) catching up on what we had been up to. They were proud of Dougy as they knew he didnt want to go to Typhoon Lagoon!!. Sat chatting for a few hours. The great thing is from the bar you can see the Epcot fireworks which is great. Bill was trying to explain the rules of American Football to Dougy (again!!). The kids were happy and laughing with their new friends and I was just so pleased we had picked CBR!!
