cargo shorts instead of bag?

Hi everyone- I'm looking for a pair of women's cargo shorts to wear on my trip in May so that I don't have to carry a fanny bag or anything... anyone have any good experience with this idea?

Yes I do this all the time in the summer, especially when we travel. A few years ago I bought two pairs of water-resistant Nylon cargo shorts from Dick's Sporting Goods (about $40 a pair), and I still wear them religiously. It allows me to carry a small wallet (don't carry the whole thing just drivers license, credit card, tickets and some cash is usually sufficient), small camera, and sometimes a small notepad (I am a writer for a amusement park magazine). It works great. If you do plan to ride water rides its a good idea to bring a ziploc baggy or just get one from a store, so that things don't get wet.

Since I started doing this I have no more bag checks to contend with, which is very nice!

I highly recommend it! When my husband and I went a few years ago, pre kid, we did this. It was heavenly not carrying anything. It all fit just fine.

It's a great idea! I have a few different pairs that I have bought through the last few years. I love having those pockets. Most pockets have buttons or velcro so my stuff always stays secure. We have a DS who is not yet 2, so it doesn't eliminate a bag for me anymore, but it did before DS. Go for it!

I wear cargo shorts. DH does not. DH found a vest w/ a bunch of pockets at AK on our last trip. He wore it every day after that. He will wear it on our next trip. We will be bagless. I saw a similar vest at Walmart is the Sporting Goods section.

i have tried both. dh and i now just use pockets to hold tickets, cheap ponchos, camera, credit card or cash. i do take a ziplock for camera in case of rain or wet rides.

I have been threatening to get a few pairs since my family makes fun of me and my waist pack. It would be really nice to not have to go through security bag checks!

I did wear cargo pants on the flight home in December. With much forethought, I placed a piece of gum in the small pocket near my knee. I hate groping for my purse as the plane is taking off or landing and my ears demand gum. I thought I was so smart!

Well, we get to security at MCO, I remove my shoes, my jacket, and place my purse in the bin. I take my boarding pass and ID and smartly head through the security thingy! Well DING DING DING! What the heck??? They tell me to remove my keys from my pockets and any coins. I state that I do not have any keys on my person nor any coins. I go through again and DING DING DING!

I get pulled over to be female hand checked! Well you guessed it. That one little piece of foil wrapped gum that I had forgotten about, caused the alarms to ring! I was so embarrassed!

My family thought it was the funniest thing they had ever seen!
