I just found out that I'm going to have a visit from Aunt Flow right before my wedding day!

Has this ever happened to anyone else? Were you still able to fit in you dress with all the bloating? Sorry, I know this is a weird subject to talk about :guilty:

Talk to your OB/GYN, they can start you on the pill and you can skip the placebo week to not have Flo visit until you're back from your honeymoon.

birth control pills are a beautiful thing! are you on them? if so then you can manipulate that time. that way you just don't have it that month. so your wedding day and honeymoon are "friend" free.

sorry to hear that. congrats on the wedding!

I agree..have done this many times for trips/vacations!!

Love it.

I have gotten a little spotting in between, but VERY LITTLE.

Good luck and Congratulations!

I guess I should have mentioned that I am deathly allergic to birth control pills.

Ladies this is real and it has happened to others. There is a 1 in 2,000 chance that you have this allergy

In my early teens I took BC for acne. Within 4 days of taking them I was in the hospital for brain and spinal cord swelling. They told my parents I had spinal meningitis and that they didn't think I was going to make it. After a spinal tap, CT scan and MRI it turned out that the overdose of hormones caused an imbalance in my body and began to shut it down. And they were the Ortho-Tri Low dose!

Is there another option for me?

Gee, I PM'd you with similar BC info, but I guess I could have just posted. I was worried about TMI and I didn't want to get in trouble. Worried for no reason!!

Congrats on the wedding and best of luck to you!

I'd talk to your OB/GYN. Perhaps you could be on a different form of the pill?

OH MY GOSH!!! How SCARY!!!!! I don't know of any other options, but I think a call to the GYN would be a good thing. You never know, there may be a really simple, non BC solution.

Same thing happened to me. I wasn't for the BC pill thing (just not a fan in general) and my doc gave me a script that I could take if I needed the pain and bloating help. Fortunately it wasn't all that bad for me since I was towards the "end of the visit" Good luck!

Funny that you started this post. Last night FH and I are watching TV and I was on my computer. We have a countdown on my computer that has our countdown until we go to Disney. Last night the countdown said 28 days. I am expecting my visit from Aunt Flo on Wednesday. I looked at him and said "28 days from today we will be in Disney!" He looks at me and says "28 days from Wednesday..." and I was shocked that he thought of it and I didn't!!

Luckily I am on the pill too and I told him no problem, I will just skip it! I tried to explain it to him but i don't think he understood...

Gotta love the pill! I am totally in control of my body :rotfl2:

I have heard and read about a procedure called an extraction, in which the "contents" are removed all at once, prior to your big day. Ask your gynecologist about it.

Oh thanks! I'll definitely ask about this. If they won't let me do it I guess I can ask for the pain pill helenabear got.

I, too, have problems with BC pills (not allergy, though), and I had a visit from Flo arrive the day of my best friends' wedding when I had to fit into my bridesmaid dress... the trick I learned is to get as much caffine into you as your system can handle - it dumps water out of your system. (Which is why drinking lots of caffinated beverages isn't as healthy as caffine-free - it gets rid of fluids rather than helping your body stay hydrated.) Anyway, I used no-doz caffine pills and peed like crazy for the whole day before the wedding! :rotfl: But it worked - I fit into the dress without any problems - it was just a tiny bit snug feeling around my waist, but I barely noticed it and as the day went on that went away. As a side effect, I wasn't tired at all despite all the activity of the days leading up to the wedding! :hyper:

I'm due for mine on my honeymoon. I'm hoping for a miracle that my period will alter itself some time over the next few months so I'll be flow free for my wedding AND honeymoon. Here's to hoping!

I'm hoping for the same miracle but I'm positive it won't happen. Pixie dust to you so that you can have a flow free honeymoon :wizard:

I know what a pain it can be to have your period while on your honeymoon. I was on my period on my honeymoon and it was no fun. I wish I had some tips on how to handle the bloating, but I might have an idea to help with the honeymoon. There is a product called Instead that might help. Here is the link, the less said here the better! http://www.softcup.com/

Good Luck!

LOL, thanks. Right back at you! pixiedust:

Wow, sorry, I had this happen to me too and I don't take BC pills either so I was out of luck. Actually, my daughter was born 3 months before my wedding so I hadn't had my period in a year and although I was exclusively breastfeeding every 2 hours, it came back a year to the date on the morning of my wedding. So have no fear, you'll still fit into your dress just fine-after all, if I fit into my dress and I was 3 months postpartum (and the dress was ordered months before I got pregnant) you'll fit with no problem! It's not the most ideal situation, but it really wasn't the end of the world for me and I'm sure you'll still enjoy your day!
