Has anyone stayed at the Carasel Inn? (sp)... How close is it to DL and what's the average on room rates for four... Any information is appreciated... Thanks

The Carousel Inn is one of the South Harbor hotels that are considered "walking distance" to Disneyland. Couldn't tell you about the average rate for four, as it's only my husband and myself, but we have stayed there a number of times.

:) Hello Disney Donna, When are you staying at the Carousel? We are going for 8 days in May.
I have not stayed there before, but could certainly tell you about it when we get back.
I do know that it has a roof top pool. And others have said it has a beautiful breakfast area with a view. We bought a disney pkg so I can't tell you prices. Maybe someone on these boards could help you out?
Oh they do have microwaves and fridge in rooms with no additional charge!:)

here is their website and it looks like between now and the end of May they have a deal going for 59 dollars a night!

Might not hurt to call and check them out! We havent stayed there because we prefer another hotel closer to DL but have seen it and it looks to be a nice hotel...

I'm just curious: what do you consider to be "closer to DL"?

I had a major brain "fart" if you will and thought it was another hotel further down the street. For some reason the picture of it reminded me of another hotel which is further down the road near Katella! I apologize!

Hi JenniBarra, How did you like the hotel? Do you remember which floor you stayed on?
I just called to confirm our room and was hoping to get the top floor but apparently smokers can only get the 3rd. floor! That's ok. though.
Were you guys in the front or the back? Hope you don't mind so many questions! Any help would be appreciated.:)
30 days to go!!:bounce:

Thank you for all of your responses... I appreciate the information... Tiggerpoo, I'm going June 2 through June 8th... any information you could give me after your vacation would be great... Thanks again everyone...:Pinkbounc

We like this hotel because we like having the fridge and microwave. (Since we typically drive down from the other end of the state, we have frequently had an ice chest with food/drinks in it.) We've usually been able to get pretty good deals. We've stayed at places where we had to rely on shuttles for transportation - that didn't work out too well for us - and we've stayed at places further down the street. At the end of a long day, that extra distance was a bit much, but we find the Carousel to be within an easy walking distance. As others have said, the view from the breakfast room is awesome! It was especially exciting when DCA was still being built to peek into the construction area from up there. :)

The first time we stayed there, I think we stayed on the second floor of the main building. One of the drawbacks of being in the main building is that you sometimes do get noise from children running by on the walkway. I've heard, though, that this complaint can also be said for many other hotels in the same area.

We have also stayed numerous times in one of the smaller buildings that have just a single level (carport underneath). Much less noise, though, if you have small children or someone in your party has mobility problems, it would be best to stick with the main building, as the ones to the side have only stairway access, no elevators.

As for front or back, we've always been around the center of the hotel.

Thanks JenniBarra for the helpful information.:D
The reason I was hoping for the top floor is because I'm an extremely light sleeper and I know I will have a hard time with the thumping feet above!
Last year at another hotel (Fairfield) I existed on about 2 hours of sleep per night and I felt terrible.
So I guess all I can do is ask for the quiet area and take my excedrin pm!!
Thanks again for your reply.

Stayed here once, and wont be rushing back anytime soon. We stayed towards the back of the hotel, room just seemed dirty deep down. Unless they have done some major renovations to the room I wouldn't pay full price. Compared with what we paid to the bids we've had on Princeline I'll stick bidding $45 for a room at the Marriott. I would hope some of the rooms were better than ours, I know a lot of people like this hotel.

We have stayed at the Carousel twice. You certainly can't beat the location and the free breakfast [danish, toast or a piece of fruit] was nice.

The last time we stayed there was in 2000 and we were a bit disappointed; the room just wasn't very clean. And a couple of times when we came back at 5:30 or 6:00 in the evening the room still hadn't been straightened up. Hopefully they have smartened up a bit, because the first time we stayed there in 1998 we thought it was quite nice.

And it is a five minute walk [2 minutes if you are excited] to the front gate.

Have a great holiday.

It seems to me that they did have a remodel just in the last year. I think I remember reading about this on the boards.
I love that statement "5 minute walk, 2 minutes if your excited!" LoL:D That is so true isn't it. You start out in the morning all excited and walking fast to get there and by the end of the day your motel seems like the longest walk in the world!!
I have learned from past experience to ask for the newer part of a motel. And this time if the room is not to my liking I certainly will move to another room instead of suffering in silence.;)

Yes, they did start a remodel some time ago and I would think, by now, that all rooms have been done over.
