Car Warranty Scam Calls Ramping Up Again?

There were a few months where I didn't receive any of these calls. I figured the scammers realized we were wise to their scams, and they'd just moved on to something else.

For the past two weeks, I've been receiving 2-3 calls PER DAY (on my office phone) about my "2020 Volvo". Anyone else seeing an uptick in this nonsense?

I am not clear on what sort of scam you are talking about. Get offers in the mail occasionally for those extended car warranties, I think those are worthless but wouldn't consider it a scam. Many times it is for a car I no longer own so clearly their records aren't very current. Much like the constant TV ads for extended warranties. They make money taking in more in premiums then they pay out so they need to have a large enough user base to make the math work.

I have caller ID on my home & cell phones so anything marked as 'spam caller' I don't answer and they never leave a message since no one is going to call them back............LOL.

Ohhh wait, you are right, it was gone for awhile. I hate that I can't set my phone to only accept calls from a screened batch, I would pay extra for a device that let me freeze a contact list, would literally throw away my phone and never look back.

Very exciting news! I've been a little bored lately, this should make life more interesting!

I know the ones you are talking about, and we haven't had any in a long time, as in months. I hope they don't start again, my call blocking will be busy, lol.

I never get the car warranty calls but I get the Hope Foundation calling me to tell me they can save my home, that I am not in jeopardy of losing.

My husband got his mom’s Acura MDX when they downsized to one vehicle. They had purchased a 3rd party extended warranty on the car from the dealership. The policy ended in 2021, right after he got the car.

He was getting so many calls about extending the policy that I finally talked to them about the price. It was like $5000 for one year. We could not believe how much they wanted. We said no thanks - and please don’t call us again. He is still getting multiple calls per week 2 years later!

I am getting two to three automatic Comcast calls a day during the week. I finally tried pushing the number options for more information and they forwarded to a number that is out of service.
I get a few ATT/Direct TV calls.
I haven't gotten a call about my cars extended warranty in a long long time. But I am in California and some of the extended warranty companies are forbidden from selling policies here because they settled a fraud lawsuit filed by the state Attorney General and the settlement prohibits them from doing business here.

i used to get a lot of car warranty calls, but now they’ve been replaced with Ellie from smart alarms. We got new handsets for our landline and it actually has a screening feature built in so hopefully it will reduce those calls.

I pretend to be interested and tell them I have a 2019 Toyota Camry. They ask how many miles, I say hold on, let me go check, keep them on hold a couple of minutes, then come back and give them a number around 2 million. Then they hang up.

I like to lead them on a little then I ask them to hold on .....make a bunch of disgusting noises and flush the toilet. Get back on and tell them thanks for holding in there I just had to take care of something. Or sometimes I go into family abuse mode where I ask them to hold ...yell, scream, and start slamming things. Then come back on the phone with a pleasant voice. You'd be surprised how many will sit through it all.....
