to rig up a system to get all the luggage AND the carseat into the airport? We will have luggage with the little handle that comes out the end. I was thinking of buying some bungi cords and somehow strapping the carseat, upside down over the back of the luggage, tied to the handle? Has this worked for anyone? Any other ideas? I thought about getting a little pull-cart thing for it, but we will have two large suitcases with wheels, a small carryon with wheels, two backpacks, a stroller, and a car seat, along with ds. So I dont know if MORE wheels will help us! My parents will be with us, but my dad will have all their luggage, as mom cant carry much.

Im thinking one adult will pull two suitcases and wear a backpack, the other adult will push ds in the stroller, pulling the third suitcase, and wearing a backpack, but that leaves no room for the car seat?

I think Im over planning :rotfl: :rotfl:

Thanks for any help guys! You are great!

Hey, Staci!

You sound like the perfect candidate for the curbside check in!! That's what I do, especially if I am travelling alone with my 3 kids!

We just unload all of our junk out of the limo and onto the sidewalk (we are major overpackers), look overwhelmed and helpless at the curb, and a sky cap comes right over to help. :flower:

It makes travelling a breeze. Have a great trip!! :wizard:

I've traveled solo with both kids(4 and 2), 2 car seats, my golf clubs, 1 suitecase and a stoller and the diaper bag. It can be done but balance is the key......

My hubby is the one carrying all the bags!!! But 2 years ago, we bought a car seat carrier. It is very sturdy and holds any size car seat! And you just put it over your shoulder and off you go!

When we first entered the airport, I had ds in a baby sling and the carseat was in the stroller (seat area) and a couple of carryons in the basket underneath. Once we had checked the luggage, dh then took the carseat and ds went in the stroller. Much easier!

DS was 21 months at the time, and I was 17 weeks pregnant, so I wasnt realy comfortable, but it worked for us.

Is your luggage from the same set? Ours is a really cheap set from Target, but it has straps by the handles that can be used for connecting bags together. So, when DH and I travel together with 2 kids, he usually has all the luggage (2 or 3 bags), but it is all in one hand, because it is hooked together. It is awkward, but it works. And I either have the carseat bungeed to the stroller (and baby in the carseat) or a Pac Bac for the carseat (worn like a backpack) and I'm pushing a double stroller (carseat won't fit in this one). DH wears the diaperbag/backpack.

Otherwise, I'd either opt for curbside check in or fork over the money and get one of those carts. They are expensive, but worth it in situations like this.

I've also used the top tether straps to hang the carseat from the stroller (don't use the internal harness straps, that is a big no no). Or I've balanced the carseat on the hood of the stroller. I've also found that my carseat will fit in the seat of my stroller. So, if I use a bungee cord to strap the carseat to the seat of the stroller, my child can sit in the carseat that is in the stroller. Also, if you have a really small umbrella stroller, you could get a luggage cart to pull the carseat behind you. If you position it properly, you can balance the carseat on the luggage cart and bungee that, then your child can sit in the carseat and be pulled. Then I'd bungee the stroller to the top of one of the pieces of luggage.

It is an adventure traveling with kids, especially when they still need the stroller and carseat. Good luck, I'm compulsive about planning and always try to figure it out months in advance. For us, the best thing we can do is check as much luggage as possible. It is such an adventure to get through security and onto the plane with the carseat and stroller that we just don't bring carryons anymore. We have a diaperbag and that is it! But everyone has their own preferences.

Good luck,
Jennifer
