heading to the world in two weeks!!:cool1: traveling with DD who will be 5 months. when our other child was that age we traveled wdw in a regular stroller. this baby is smaller than her big brother and still prefers her car seat stroller. anyone have experience with touring with this kind of stroller? my main concern is the buses and leaving it while we are on the rides. she really hates the standard stroller and naps really well in her car seat stroller. thanks!

Honestly, I wouldn't do it. They're just so heavy and a pain in the neck to take around. Does she like baby wearing? It would be very annoying on busses.

I also wouldn't be crazy about my baby spending that many potential hours in a car seat when not necessary. They aren't really meant for sleeping and lounging for hours outside of the car.

I wouldn't. My daughter was always very hot in her car seat and I couldn't leave her in there for a long day. I would opt for a carrier or a regular stroller

I would not. It would be horrible on the bus and like pp said, they're not meant for babies to be in them all day. What kind of stroller do you have? Does it recline? If not, maybe look into renting a City Mini. They recline to nearly flat and have excellent sunshade. I would also bring a carrier. I have always used the Ergo in the parks. My kids love sleeping in it and you can go on most attractions (the ones the baby is able to go on anyway) without taking it off, which is a huge bonus.

We did it when DS7 was 5 months old. We always rent a car though, so we didn't have to deal with the buses.

We had other adults with us on that trip, which meant plenty of hands to hold him so that he wasn't spending too much time in the carseat.

I would not. The baby would get way too hot. We got the Britax body support pillow and used it with our B Agile stroller and it worked great for my 4 month old. I'm sure the support pillow would work with other strollers.

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

It gets way too hot to use that. I would loook into a carrier like ergo or a ring sling. That is what we use along with our stroller.

I would def opt for a standard stroller without the car seat. My 12 week old used a maclaren triumph and it worked great. Now we have a britax b ready for my 2 year old and 9 mos old and it works great!

The car seats are just too hot :(

We used one at Disneyland (although we didn't have to wait for buses). The carseat itself had a canopy and the stroller had a canopy - that kept her cooler than just the standard stroller because she had the sun blocked off from all sides. We'd open it for her when the sun wasn't hitting it directly, so she'd get some fresh air, but we never had a problem with it.

thanks for the replies! we would carry her mostly in a baby bjorn. the car seat would be mostly for napping and occasionally strolling so i am not so much concerned about the heat more just the inconvenience of lugging around the car seat.

We used ours when our son was 6 months old. It was the only stroller he would nap in. We mostly traveled by car, but the one day we rode the buses it was a huge pain. The car seat was awkward and we felt like we were taking up a ton of room. As far as leaving it to go on rides, we never had any problems, we just left the car seat snapped into the stroller. We were glad we had it because he napped great, however if we did not have a car it would have been tough. Have a good trip!

Yeah I have to jump on the no wagon. I brought DD10 when she was 7 months and brought the car seat, after the first day it didn't leave the hotel room, it was such a pain and she got really overheated. I hip carried her 85% of the time and the rest she did fine in the stroller.

I would say no too. I can't imagine trying to get it on and off the bus. What if you had to stand? We took our 7 month old and he did fine. I did take receiving blankets to prop around him when he was sleeping.

I would say no if you are using Disney Transportation. I can't imagine holding the carrier on the bus. If you are sitting you will have to balance it on your legs. If you are standing you will have to hold the carrier with one hand and the grab handle with the other and try to keep the carrier from bashing in to others.

I would say no too after travelling quite a few times with infants to Disney. It is just such a pain and the babies get waaay too hot/sweaty in them, even if they are only in there a little bit.

You might be surprised how well she does in the regular stroller being in a new environment like WDW. I would take some rolled up towels or a small pillow if you need to prop baby a certain way to sleep better. But I just think the carseat is way more hassle than its worth.

I think you are underestimating the heat and humidity this time of year. Today it is supposed to be a high of 85 with 65 % humidity. Even a few minutes in a carrier is going to result in a hot sweaty baby.

I agree with this. I have a graco carseat and stroller and I definitly wouldnt take it into the parks and on buses because between the carseat and the stroller, itll get pretty bulky. It may be more trouble than its worth. Have you tried maybe rolling up a couple receiving blankets around her in the regular stroller to make her feel more cozy? That might be worth a try. Baby wearing would be my first choice though with a 5 month old.
