Hi everyone! Wea re looking to get a new carseat for Connor (almost 6 months). We need one that can also be used facing rear. Almost all the ones I read reviews on say they are difficult to use facing rear! Anyone have one they prefer? We are looking in the $100-$150 price range. Thanks!

The only issue is pricing as they are expensive - although I have seen online deals. My daughter used the Roundabout from infancy however now she is in the Marathon. They now have Wizard. The price of the marathon/wizard is over $200 but since it goes to 65lbs we will be using it for a while.

We bought a Britax Marathon for DS. It is a little higher than your price range but we have been very happy. What I love the most is that the straps never get tangled up unlike the other car seats we have had. My DH wanted an Alpha Omega for his car because he thought he didn't like the Britax but he is always complaining about the straps getting tangled up and he wishes he would have gotten a Britax for his car.

Another vote for the Britax, if you can swing it at all price wise. I didn't think there was any sense spending that much, but after my accident last winter, I bought one because the insurance was paying for most of it, and I hate to use our other seat now!

If not, look at the Evenflo Titan...I think that's the name of it. My mom has one in her car, it's nice and easy to use.

Received good reviews from both CR, Nat'l Highway Safety Admin and users on Amazon. It is rated a CR Best Buy as well.

Currently its sells on Amazon for $119. If you have a Babies R Us near you, they may allow you to take the floor model to your car to see how it fits.

Good luck!

Another Britax fan, we have both the Roundabout and the Marathon.

DS uses an Evenflo Chase (front facing only combo seat) in DH's car and I can't stand the way the straps twist.

Ds is 3 and has outgrown the Roundabout (he's really tall) but has tons of room in the Marathon and it goes to 65lbs harnesses so he'll be using it for a long time. He prefers it to the Evenflo, he always wants to go with whoever has the "blue" seat.

It's about $225 but was worth it for us.

If you can't strech your budget I'd look into the Evenflo Triumph as it has EPS foam (like bike helments, Britax seats are know for this) and has a harness system that isn't as likely to twist.

carseatdata.org and cpsafety.com both have good info about what to look for and I think give recommendations. I tend to trust them more than consumer reports who doesn't have certified CPS techs do their testing.

Another vote for Britax. We have two roundabouts. One for DD 2.5 and one for DS 7 months. As others have said, they are a bit pricey, but consider the length of use. Both my kids have used their seats from birth. I bet my DD gets at least another year out of her roundabout.

Go for the Britax Marathon. It has a rear facing weight limit of 33 lbs. You should keep your child rear facing as long as possible. It is simply safer. I just turned my DD around and she is going to be 3 on the 6th. She hit the weight limit. She had to cross her legs a bit, but would you rather have a broken leg or a spinal cord injury???

If you look at the total time your child will be in the car seat, it is not hard to justify the higher cost of the Britax. I know my child is worth it!!

Another Britax user. We have a Roundabout. It was the best when we bought it. I have also taken it on several flights and never had a problem. :)

My Sister has a Marathon for her DD and loves it. :)

we used the britax roundabout for daniel starting around 8 months. he's still in it now at 2.5 years, although we are moving him into a larger one and using the RA for one of the twins. we never had any problems installing it rear or forward facing. I'm sure some of that has to do with the type of car you have. I know there is a site that has a breakdown on which seats fit best in which cars, but I can't find it. maybe check with the parentsplace carseat board...they will most likely know the link, and are very knowledgable.
