I also posted this on the transportation board but I think it moves slower over there and you ladies may be able to help me too!

We are flying Air Tran next Monday and are taking our 3 yr old son's car seat.

I went on Airtran's and the FAA's website to read any info I needed to know about taking a car seat and came across this brochure that I printed out.

At one point it says "Make sure your CRS is government approved and has "This restraint is certified for use in motor vehicles and aircraft" printed on it. Otherwise you might be asked to check the CRS as baggage".

So...I go out and check his car seat in my car that we were planning on taking and I don't see this anywhere on the seat. I even checked the 3 other car seats we own and don't see it. The seats aren't that old, I think the oldest one will be closing in on 4 yrs this April.

Is this something I should be worried about? Do they check for this? Should I pull out the books to see if it says it in there and take that with me in case?

The info will be printed on the label on the carseat, it is sew into the seat it will be on the part that tells you about installing and rear/forward facing, and weight limits. Should be a white label or yellow on some. And the words are typically written in red.

Almost all carseats are airplane regulated, the warning is usually written on there so people don't bring like booster chairs to act as a carseat.

I'll go check again - maybe I'm missing it. The seats I have are all 5 pt harnesses, three are Eddie Bauer and one is a Graco. I was hoping to bring the seat he uses the most which is the Graco that is in my car but I've checked that one several times and I don't see that phrase. I'll have to have DH unhook them to check them closer. I hope I'm just missing it!!

if its an eddie bauer or graco you are fine... no one will stop you or ask to check...

ok...I went out and took some pictures of my carseats. We have an evenflo and a graco also. in the graco it is located under the carseat (you will have to unbuckle it)

What kind of Graco? Even the Nautilus is airline approved. I don't have a Graco so I can't point you to the sticker. It's likely on the base. Probably not on the bottom that you need to uninstall the seat but you might have to smoosh your cheek into your car seat to see it right. It's a "boring" sticker that says the seat is NHTSA approved (or Transport Canada) Sever lines of text and in there it will say something like "this seat approved for air travel"

Never mind... Katie was much more helpful than me!

Thank you ladies!! I knew you'd come through for me!! Still not an answer on the transportation board! LOL....(How can I delete the thread?)

Anyway...I will go pull the carseat out and check to make sure. The Graco that I wanted to take is a ComfortSport. I'm really hoping it is underneath and I just can't see it.

oh yeah...the one that I posted that we have is a graco comfortsport too, it will be underneath the seat.

have a great trip and hopefully the plane ride will be great. We are not bringing out seat along...wish us luck...ha ha.

Probably the people who would have answered there saw this thread instead....:) You did get a reply, though. Just reply in there that you have the answer and thank you.

Have a good flight!

would have been easier to go to their website or bust out your manual that came with them for the answer... I bet I could find the answer (give me exact model names) in under 5 minutes each.
