I need a carseat for a short 29 pound 2.5 year old. I bought a Cosco summit car/booster seat, but the seat part is too long for his little legs. Any suggestions, I would like it to be something he can continue to grow into. I have not had to buy a carseat in 16 years and they have really changed. It would need to work in the captains chair in a conversion van. We do not have the latch system. Thanks in advance.

The Evenflo Express or Chase is a great seat. Works forward facing for kids up to 40 lbs with the straps and then at 40 lbs you remove the straps and it becomes a booster seat (if you have lap/shoulder belts). Shopko, Target, Walmart, all the stores carry them. In Wis. they run about $50.00.

I really like the Evenflo Triumph. My daughter used it until she was 3 1/2, and only then moved out of it to let her little brother use it. It is rear facing and forward facing. Runs about $125.

We had the Britax Roundabout when our kids were in car seats. They are very safe and very easy to install. Now both kids are in Britax booster seats.

Another Britax fan here. There are pricey, but worth it IMHO. They have built in lock offs, non-twist straps, and side impact protection that other seats don't have. I'd suggest the Boulevard; it has a rear facing limit up to 33 lbs and forward facing to 65 lbs. Their seats can be tethered rear facing too.

I am also a Britax fan. In January I had to buy a new carseat for my 7 month old and move my 4 yr. old to a booster. Before the booster DD was in a Roundabout. We didn't put DS in it because they expire after 5 years.

I got the Marathon for DS. He is very comfy in it and it is a great seat. DD has the booster and she loves it. I ordered from Babies R Us. :)

Thanks, I will check these out. We have a 1200 mile car ride and I want him as comfortable as possible. Hopefully, I can find one that will work.

We have 2 Evenflo Triumph. It's one of the top rated carseats. Almost on par with the Britax, without the outrageous pricetag. Very safe, seatcover not diffiicult to remove for washing, looks comfortable. easy to install, easy to tighten harness, has LATCH system, practically everyone I know has this carseat.
