Can anyone please help? Will I need to hire a car seat for my 4yr old when I visit wdw this year?

Many thanks,

Maria

Hi Maria

You will have to have a car seat for your 4 year old. FL law states that under 5's have to be in car seats.
We took our own, when our DD was younger, it just went in the hold on the plane.
I think the hire car companies charge something like $5 per day..

What happens if you are just booking a transfer to and from the airport and possibly visiting places outside of WDW? Do you tell them that a child under five will be travelling so that they can provide a car seat, or do you still have to bring your own just for those few trips? I am assuming you don't need one to travel round on Disney transport?!

We never hire a seat from the car hire company, we call in at Wallmart as soon as we get there and buy a booster seat for about $20. It is far more economical than the rip off prices the car hire co. charge, the only downside is you have to drive from MCO to Wallmart without a car seat. If you go to Sandford there is a number of shops on the road out towards I-4 (I always go that way to avoid the tolls(!!) and I think we got one from Target.

Hello,

For a 14 night stay , if you hire a seat through your rental company it will cost approx. $60.

For a child up to 5 years a car seat is mandatory.
Not sure if a booster seat qualifies?

All children over 5 years of age , do not require a car seat.

we always take our own - we used a high back booster last year and that was fine (although to be honest, noone checked).
I'm not sure about the backless boosters as we don't use them anyway.

if you are having transfers in a bus or a taxi then car seats are not compulsory by law. I tend to feel a little uncomfortable in a taxi though, as I don't see how they are any safer than a car and I would always use one in a car.

Hi Bev.

Don't know if things have changed but when my then 4 year old needed one a couple of years back I just asked the guy who shows you to the car (Dollar Orlando International) for one and he obliged. No extra cost apart from tipping him a few dollars.
