Car rentals

Hi everyone! I'm thinking of renting a car this trip and picking up/dropping it off at MCO. I've looked at a few sites for prices but I'm wondering if anyone knows of a really good place to look that has cheap rentals? I'm not looking to break the bank with a rental but I wanted to get one because I am having a lot of trouble with one of my feet and its unknown yet what the cause is (could be a fracture or arthritis) so I'm thinking that it would be better to be off my feet as much as possible. My logic with the rental is that I wouldn't have to stand on buses or wait in lines for buses. I thought it might also save a bit of time for us as we like to travel to different resorts to eat. Anyways sorry for the ramblings. Any suggestions?

Also could anyone tell me what shuttle to car means when looking at different companies?

Only suggestion i can give is to consider renting on-site. A couple of reasons ... you won't need to worry about going to get your luggage and then heading to the rental counter which will cut down on the amount of walking you'll need to do. You can instead, just walk to the ME, hop on and you're luggage will get to your room. Once you get to your resort the CCC will send a shuttle to pick you up (you need to arrange this BEFORE you show up) and then take you to the car. Then when it's time to come home you just reverse the process .. drop the car off and they take you back to your resort where you can then take ME back to the MCO. This will also eliminate the need to drive from MCO to WDW which can prove interesting at best !! If you have a handicap card that goes in your window, be sure to bring it with you and make sure to ask to park in the handicap parking. ONLY exception to this rule is heading to MK .. the walk from that parking section is really, really REALLY long before you even get to TTC ... taking the bus from your resort will drop you right at the gates.

No it wasn't too lengthy at all, I appreciate it! Do you know how to go about obtaining a temporary handicap card? Would it be a different process since I would be using it for the U.S.? If you don't know, that's fine, I was just asking in case Thanks for your response. Is it typically cheaper to rent onsite than from the airport?

"Shuttle to car" likely means that the car rental isn't in the actual terminal. You take a shuttle bus to pick up your car. Pain the butt.

Unfortunately there's no one place that always gets you the best car rental prices. Usually you need to go to a bunch of sites and check prices on your own. There's a good list of discount codes at http://www.mousesavers.com/transportation-for-disney-vacations/rental-car-discounts/

I've had really good luck with Costco lately. For my last 3 car rentals they've beat any other price I could find by quite a bit.

I second the comment about taking the bus to MK.

I like Costco as well. I also use carrentals.com to get a decent idea of how much I'll probably have to spend, and usually will reserve a car there first - until I find a better price.

Costco is great because you can reserve your car without a deposit, and if you find a better deal closer to the date, you can cancel. Keep trying sites daily for pricing (expedia.com, hotwire.com, carrentalsavers.com). Prices fluctuate often, especially as you near the date.

Another vote for Costco from me too. We have a mid-sized SUV booked Aug 5 - 16 for $340 (USD) with no payment made. Will keep checking the price as we get nearer to see if I can find it cheaper.

Did get a good price for a smaller car with Autorentals.com too.
