We are coming to Orlando for a week in May. We want to rent a car for 1 week. The prices are very high. Any recommendations on where to rent a car the cheapest? We have AAA and Costco membership!

The only thing we've been able to do is monitor often. I don't recall seeing rental car prices like this ever before, and it doesn't seem to be improving that much. But every now and then, I'll stumble onto a rate that at least will save us some money. But for anything onsite at MCO, we've had a lot of trouble getting any kind of deal for nearly a year now. We have both AAA and Costco, and it's not helping. I would highly recommend grabbing the best deal you can now (if you know your flights and can determine a pickup/dropoff time), and then check at least once a week to see if you can improve on it. But be careful with some of the cut-rate off-site companies. I'm sure folks use them and it works out fine, but there are many reports of rental problems.

Keep checking. In the past, the prices would come down as you got closer, then go back up. In the last year, I have not seen that kind of fluctutaion.

Try Autoslash.com, it’s an aggregator not a rental site itself. You can have them give you a quote each day, if you book (you do not have to give a credit card), you can still request they continue to check for lower rates. If they find something, they will email you. I I did a combination of both and went from $428 for 9 days down to $300, all inclusive, airport pickup. It beat the lowest rate I could find on my own by $250.

I had some success with rates dropping for our Sept trip. I book through Costco, keep checking, and when rates drop I cancel and rebook.

Our Avis car rental for 10 days dropped $170 at the last minute (2 days) before our December 11 trip. We used Costco.

I'm a big fan of Autoslash. They have saved me $3,000 between the time I booked my trips and when I actually got there over the last three years.

Prices are not going to be where they were two years ago, too many things have changed in the market since then. I'm usually content paying $250-300/wk from any of the companies that have cars on property at MCO.

Keep checking. When we booked for 8 days spanning December 2021 and January 2022, we were looking at $1600 as the lowest price for a standard SUV with Alamo through Costco. Prices started dropping like crazy after Thanksgiving. We now have a standard SUV with Budget via Costco for under $300 for the same number of days.

I'm going in April and the prices are nuts.....I have a reservation through Costco and a calendar reminder to check every week. I'm very tempted to cancel and just use Uber/Lyft between parking costs and ubers it might be cheaper.

I know. We have a price of $600/wk for Thrifty.. It used to be a little over $200/wk.

Always find Costco to Hv most reasonable rates. And what I like best is they don’t require credit card for reservation which makes it super easy to cancel and rebook when checking to see if prices go down. I check at least weekly if not more frequently for price changes
