Car Rental?

We are headed down to the world the last week of August. This will be our first time staying at the fort in the cabins. We ahve always rented a car for all WDW trips. Since we are a big family (6 including DMIL), we will need to get a mini-van. I do not want to spend the $600+ dollars for our 10 day rental. How are the buses? We have never taken them. Is there a way to get to Universal if we don't rent a car? I see many posts about golf carts. Where can these be used at?

We use a golf cart and the buses, for our family of 6 (4 children and a big stroller), we always find it super convienent. We get food delivered when we fly, and rarely move the big van if we drive, (except for maybe a Publix beer run)

The buses will get you where you want to go. 6 might be tight on a golf cart, I believe some off-site rentals have a 6 seater golf cart. I believe you can hire Mears or other shuttles to get to Universal or a taxi.

So are you able to drive the golf carts to the bus/boat stops?

Yes, there is GC parking at all these places.
