We are trying to get all our "ducks in a row" in planning a November 3 day cruise. We'd like to fly down to MCO on Tuesday evening, spend 2 nights at All Star & then head for the ship. After the cruise, we'll be returning to WDW for 2 more days before heading home. What is the best method (and most cost effective) of ground transportation? Rent a car? Limo?? We are a family of 4 . . . . .

Any advice is GREATLY appreciated!!

Thanks!
Brenda

A lot of people like to rent a car at MCO and drop it off at the port (there's about 3-4 companies that have offices near the port, Avis being the most prominently mentioned around here.) Then when their cruise gets back to the port they rent a car again and then return it to MCO once they're finished.

We were going to do that, but decided not to bother with the hassle since it didn't cost much to park the car at the port per day (we were only on a 3-day cruise) and we got a cheaper overall rental rate since we were renting the car for more than 7 days as opposed to 2 separate shorter term rentals where you sometimes get a more expensive daily rate.

For families and larger groups a towncar service can sometimes be cost effective (it definitely wasn't for us as a couple since we'd still be charged the same amount, but only 2 people would utilize the transportation.) I don't have the link, but you'll definitely want to check out Dave from Marietta's site. He has lots of good info on this.

How much does it cost per day to just leave a rental car at the port and how secure is the area?

Thanks!
Brenda

instead you can do a 24 hour rental each way. Round trip it cost us under 100.00
