car rental to beach from WDW

I would love for my family to see the ocean while we are in Florida for our WDW trip, but I'm unsure of the car rental process. Is there somewhere on Disney property to rent a car or do we have to get one at the airport? I don't even like to have to drive anywhere while at WDW but I realize the nearest beach is at least an hour away. Can we get a car delivered to us and have them come get it at the resort? We will probably plan the beach trip midway thru our trip, so don't want to rent one the whole time. Just for a day, if even that. Any info. is appreciated.

National and Alamo rent cars from Swan/Dolphin and from the Car Care Center in WDW. You probably need to do this in advance, but it's easy to do from either car rental. We have only rented at the airport and dropped off at Swan/Dolphin, but I have read here that the Car Care Center will actually pick you up. Hopefully more people (with more experience) will respond.

I believe Enterprise is the only car rental company that "picks you up"

As they do not operate on WDW, best to call and see if they will come to you from their offsite location...

If you rent from the Car Care Center (on property near TTC parking lot) then you can use their free shuttle service. Give them a call and they'll come pick you up at your resort. They'll also take you back after you drop off the car. Very fast and easy. Just watch their hours - they close kind of early as I recall (6 pm maybe).

I got a good rate from Dollar, they are at the Lake Buenavista Regal SUn Resort which has a shuttle from Disney

National and Alamo are at the Car Care Center, so you can call their 800# or use their website. For pickup location, type in Lake Buena Vista, and then you'll get a drop down with options, including the Car Care Center.

What if I decide to rent a car after arriving at my WDW resort?
Alamo and National Car Rental has an office located at the Car Care Center outside the Magic Kingdom and at the Dolphin Resort. Shuttle service to the Car Care Center is available from all resorts and must be reserved at least one hour in advance. Alamo/National is open seven days/week from 7:30 am to 6:30 pm. The Dolphin is open from 8:15am - 4:00pm. The phone number is 407-824-3470 or 800-227-7368. Reservations are strongly suggested if picking up a car at one of the on-property rental centers.

Shhh, here's a little secret about renting cars on Disney property - just about all the major car rental companies have a location on property and they will send a courtesy car to get you. Don't limit your shopping to just Alamo/National.
