Car Rental through credit card company

Quick question...I booked a rental car for the last week of September through my credit card company. I was given a quote of 188.00 for the week for a standard SUV. I am now a bit nervous that there is a catch. Everywhere I have checked, the rates are significantly higher!! Has anyone done this before. I used my Capital One card and I have booked through Avis. Thanks in advance!!

Does your $188 quote include detail resulting in a total estimated charge of $188? This would be not just a weekly rate, but estimated taxes, fees, etc. resulting in what you can expect to hit your credit card.

It doesn't seem impossible you could get a good rate like this, especially using a code through a credit card, but if you are worried it is important to know if the price you have is a total estimated charge or a weekly rate with other charges to be applied at the end.

The charges look like this:
Rental Rate Subtotal: $135.27
Taxes and Fees: $52.72
Total: $187.99

The rental email confirmation says: "Attention - Car Rental Counter
This is a pre-paid reservation. Please check your reservation system for payment information covering time and mileage. The car pre-paid amount does not include optional items or extra charges associated with the reservation."

I just don't want to be hit up for mileage and all kinds of other stuff that will make it an expensive rental!!

It is possible to get a really good rate, especially during slower travel periods. Did you use reward points? Does it include unlimited mileage? Give them a call for clarification about exactly what that rate covers. It can't hurt and it's better than being surprised with some crazy mileage charges at the end of your trip.

I contacted them and it is unlimited mileage. They said the only extra charges would be insurance if we choose to get it and any extras like car seat, navigation system, etc!
