Hi. I haven't rented a car for a Disney trip in over 4 years. BUT, we will be renting a car this summer for the first part of our trip at Universal before heading to WDW.

I'd like to use Alamo or National because we can pick up at the airport and drop off at WDW Car Care Center.

The rates are RIDICULOUSLY high right now for a 5 day rental of a small SUV. I have been using Entertainment codes as well as a code I got at Mousesavers.

Will rates FALL as we get closer to our trip? Should I book now or wait? Any advice with car rentals will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much!!!

Yes, most likely they will drop. I always end up canceling and rebooking our rental car about 5 times before I end up with the final "rock bottom" price, which usually happens 1 - 2 weeks before the date we pick up the car.

What is "ridiculously high?" Just wondering..... haven't rented in years and am considering for an August trip.

We were looking into renting a car from Alamo for a Dec. trip to Ft Myers. When I checked the rates in Oct., it was over $300 (pre taxes & fees) for a full size for a week. Two weeks before our trip they had a hot deal special for $165 pre taxes & fees for the same car class. You can usually cancel and rebook your car rental if you find a lower rate.

Some of the rates I was getting were $350 for 5 days. That was after the coupons were applied. We need at least a small SUV or a minivan. I'll keep checking. Thanks!

How do you find the "rock bottom" price? This is my first time renting and I reserved a minivan many months ago and haven't come across a price that low again (212 w/tax for the week) do you have any secrets? I am also trying to book a car for my brother's family. What is considered a good rate for a car? right now I have one for 150

I would say both those rates, for a week, those class of vehicles, are quite good. Make sure to hang on to them, but, keep checking, maybe something better before your trip. Those are good rates though. 'Secret' is to just keep checking, referring back here periodically, maybe www.flyertalk.com also.

General advice is to not wait to book. Book the best rate now that you can get. If they do drop, rebook and then cancel that prior higher rate. If you don't book and the rates go up, you will be sorry. Book now!
